d halfnote
There's def some stuff to be gleaned from that film but my least fave part is when Noel R decides to go back, look at his amps & turn up louder than Jimi [ 2~3 min]. Some ppl still wonder why he got axed. d=halfnote
whitefang
In '69 Redding was already a year into getting Fat Matress going, and deliberately tried to antagonize Jimi on several occasions as their releationship was deteriorating for a while anyway. Some saw those stunts as a way of getting away from the Experience without any contractural hassles. Whitefang. But I last saw Jimi in Detroit about a month before Woodstock, and they all sounded great. Must've been not too long before that film was made. Or after, as a recording date isn't offered I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!
d halfnote
Redding wasn't smart enough to think that way, as evidenced by his putting his cards on that lame ego-band instead of sticking w/ the (then) highest paid entertainer in the world who gave him his one break. d=halfnote
whitefang
Can't argue with that. And after hearing Fat Matress back in the "day", one had to wonder whether or not Noel lost some kind of bet. Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left! Scott Fraser
I bought that first Fat Mattress album, assuming if the guy played with Hendrix something interesting would have rubbed off on him. It didn't. Scott Fraser
