Philip OKeefe
Looks pretty good to me, if the price is right. One suggestion off the top of my head - make sure your mobo supports that particular RAM... not just the configuration of the RAM (DDR400 PC3200) but the actual sticks and CAS2 specs. It probably will, but be sure that it does before you commit. Of course, if you're buying from someone like Scott, then that should be a non-issue. But if you're building it yourself, it's best to check before you buy. Oh, I'd prefer a beefer power supply (ie more wattage), but that should suffice. I'm not familiar with that particular model, so I don't know if it's an issue, but make sure it's a quiet model if you plan on having the computer in the same room where you're using a mic to record. The Vantec should be a good / quiet cooler. All in all, it looks like a pretty cool system. I'm an AMD guy (Athlon XP or Athlon 64), but the PIV systems can rock too. Best of luck with your new 'puter!
jcskid
Antec Sonata w/380 Power Supply Great! Asus P4C800(E) Deluxe buy the Gigabyte 8ik1000 or 8knxp no issues with the promise controller Intel P4 FSB 800 3.0GHz w/fan Retail glad to see your not buying the Extreme.. Corsair PC3200 512MB DDR400 CAS2 CMX 512-3200 Low Latency good but you can buy the same quality for far less Corsair dont make memory, just assmebles it. Matrox Millennium P750 AGP8X 64MB DDR 128BIT System: MAXTOR SATA/150 80GB 7200RPM 8MB get an IDE SAta is really no faster and using a Sata drive as an OS disables 1 IDE chain. kinda pointless. Audio: Western Digital SATA Raptor 36 great but the 74G is better DVD/CD-RW:"PLEXTOR PX-708A great Pioneer is just as good 3.5":Teac HeatSink/Cooler Vantec Aero Flow II VA4-7245 way way too loud. Zalman is much quieter Scott ADK
Matt.Hepworth
Yes, I have the Sonata with the 380Watter and a Zalman Silent CPU cooler with my Athlon 64. Hmmm... I also have a Gigabyte board and the Corsair TwinX matched 1024 of PC3200. All those (as they apply to Pentium) should work great for you. No matter how good something is, there will always be someone blasting away on a forum somewhere about how much they hate it.
