Gulliver
... I am sick of disco and all that happy-dance stuff. I am sick of sugary pop and all those self-esteemed pop stars. Please don't play me any of those countless teeny-weenie boy/girl bands because I am fucking grown up!! BUT... I also hate rap and I hate death-metal. Nu-metal annoys a hell out of me as well. I am not a big fan of rock'n'roll a'la Rolling Stones either (in fact I hate them too). Elvis Presley IS dead! And honestly, I never liked any blues and/or country. Oh, and every solo in a traditional jazz piece sounds the same. I am back.
Philip OKeefe
My first thought was "gee, that doesn't leave very much...", but then I thoguht a bit more and realized there's a lot of styles you DIDN'T mention... classical, bluegrass, folk, techno, etc. etc. Maybe it would just be easier to ask you what you DO like. Sylver
Man, that's a LOT of hate. Have you considered therapy. Oh, and disco? I think you are showing your gray hair, my friend. I used to have this really boss tee shirt that had a skull with a dagger through it and a snake wrapped around the whole thing and it said "Death before disco!." It was cool. That was 1979 and I was 14. I have since grown up to realize that Louis Johnson is the snizzit and "Carwash" has one of the all time best bass lines. Not to mention the opening bars to "Play that funky Music (white boy)" "Hhhhhhhhhheyyyyyyyyyyy! Do it!" I really don't know what to put here. Hendmik
I like jazz, warm nights on the beach, traveling, skateboarding, and men who aren't afraid to cry. My turn-offs include boxing, minivans, men who smoke, hairy backs, and mean people. Whenever you find that you are on the side of the majority, it is time to reform. I I mjrn
How's that quote go? "I don't know much about art but I know what I like?" Or maybe, "I don't like much but I know art." We all have certain likes & dislikes but shouldn't they be born of quality rather than stereotypes? There is no such thing as a genre that's always good is there? Can there be one that's always bad? Really? Can you distinguish between funk (James Brown, etc., with a varied beat) & disco/techno (unvaried, Kraftwerk-esque beat)? Can you differentiate The Dregs & Kansas? Can Steve Morse? ...but back to the point: let's consider quality & talent over style.
