Phait
Is this ironic or what? http://www.phait-accompli.com/crap/irony.jpg 1. Apple Powerbook G4 2. Windows AIM What the fuck! This is the 2nd time I've seen such a weird ad. The designer was probably working on a Mac, but could've been on a PC - either way I'm sure they knew of platform differences - how can they fuckup like that? Or maybe it was intentional? How could they get away with it?

Phait
There is Mac AIM but it doesnt have the Windows GUI. Also, if they were running VPC wouldn't the whole screen appear as Windows OS?

Alndln
Maybe it's just a photo of the program gui being displayed on the screen. "A Robot Playing Trumpet Blows"

zeronyne
Originally posted by Kcbass: Plus, the display looks photoshopped in. KcbassThat's the whole point that Phait is making. Why not photoshop in an AIM screen from a Mac? Sorry to say it, Phait, but as a veteran of ad agency art departments, I can tell you that this type of stuff happens all the time. No one cares, and the client doesn't notice. This wasn't an ad for Mac software, right? The cellphone provider that bought this ad, or more specifically, the marketing person for the provider, didn't care or know. If I were either the creative director or the account rep on this account, I would've made the designer change it, and I'd make a mental note of 1)that person's lack of knowledge of the differences among computer OS's, and 2)that person's lack of attention to detail. "For instance" is not proof.
Jeff Klopmeyer
What Zeronyne said. I have to put fake screens on monitors all the time, and I'm always extemely cognizant of these details. If I were a CD at the agency that did this, I'd have spanked the artist pretty harshly. - Jeff Marketing Communications for MI/Pro Audio My solo music and stuff They Stole My Crayon
