whitefang
Odd(or maybe not, considering...) that the only "professor" Fered McDowell I can find any info on was connected with Iowa State university, and absolutely NO info could be found on any of his bibliography. However, "I Do Not Play No Rock & Roll" is the title of a 1969 LP released by a bluesman known as "MISSISSIPPI" Fred McDowell. It would be appreciated if you could provide either a link to the dissertation, or "copy and paste" the text, or leggo our chains. Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!

whitefang
Yeah, but when I "google" Fred McDowell, all I get is "Mississippi" Fred McDowell, who DIDN'T write any such '59 dissertation, but released an LP by that name TEN YEARS LATER. The only "professor" Fred McDowell I could find was a professor at Iowa State university, and no bibliography of any of his work could be found. That's why I asked if you could provide any link or other pertinent info on the individual. That dissertation sounds interesting. IF it does indeed exist, and I'd like to read it.
