Single encoder daw controller?

When using my macbook, i dont have much use for dozens of slider and encoders...

I am looking for a simple tool, just one encoder and a few programmable buttons...

The only thing, i could find is the countour ShuttleXpress, but that is actually a video edditing controller, but its programmable, so i was wondering if anyone has experience with converting this into a simple daw controller...

Another option would be, This .. but its even more alienate to DAW's

I found myself going down a similar path yesterday. I had just installed a "too good to pass up" True Keys (VI Labs) package. I was going nuts trying to set the rotary controls in UVI Workstation using my mouse (Well, actually a trackball). I had come across Kontrol Master (Touch Innovations had it at the recent NAMM). I also saw the items you mentioned. Nob Control also makes a single encoder solution, but no programmable buttons. I was feeling a GAS attack coming on. In my case, the solution was already on my mouse. It turns out that the UVI Workstation supports scroll wheel control of their rotary controls, and I had a pretty decent (albeit previously unused) scroll wheel on my trackball.

- just slightly off topic... I use a Logitech Trackball

And place almost anywhere. Not needing to slide it around like a mouse is great, especially if it's sitting on my S90ES. Assigning functions to the buttons is easy. Although I do like the job wheel on this ShuttleXpress.

On a similar topic, saw this yesterday and it looks intriguing.
