My DTown buddy, usually the most attentive announcer of BDay's seems to've slept late today.

Maybe he's stuck in a voting line.

I do apologize. But in my defense, I did once state that I get my info from a page in my daily eEdition of the Detroit Free Press. At the top of their horoscope column they list "celebrity birthdays" for the day it's printed. There was a glitch in the site yesterday (maybe RUSSIANS hacking it? ;) ) so I missed it.

Yeah, liked Bonnie since I started "crushing" on her after seeing her perform with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band on some PBS thing back when I was 17 or so. She had yet to embark on her own music career at that point.

:D

I remember shaking my head a lot over the amount of folks I ran into when that song came out that thought she was some kind of "new artist"!

Made me wonder what ROCK they've been living under. :D

She's a great gal with a great heart. I have her on the Black and White DVD singing backing vocals with a couple of other great gals, for Roy Orbison...+1 she goes back a long ways and had friends from the old days that she still loves...
Take care, Larryz

Since we're on the subject of birthdays, I'll take this opportunity to bring up MARSHALL CRENSHAW's 63rd birthday today.

I don't know what he's been up to lately, but I did kinda like him back in the '80's, being one of the few offering musical sanity in the midst of that decade's "plasticity madness", and his turn as Buddy Holly in the movie "La Bamba" was pretty good.

Plus, he's a DETROIT native, which just makes it better for me. ;)

And now today it's NEIL YOUNG's 71st birthday.

Never a HUGE fan of his solo work, he's done a couple of songs I liked, and you can't knock success. One guy I know once said the cover of his HARVEST LP was excellent for separating the SEEDS from your stash.

His "fingernails on blackboard" voice however, WAS a good addition to the harmonies of CS&N, and Buffalo Springfield, and like fellow Canadian Joni Mitchell, is also a polio survivor.

An avid activist, he never shied away from voicing his opposition to various social issues, and IMHO, ANYbody who strives to provide a download service that sounds better than Mp3s(Pono) is OK in MY book! ;)

I'm really not at all familiar with any of Susan Tedeschi's work, so I had to look her up. ;)

Yeah, it IS somewhat appropriate.

Good call d. AND a happy belated birthday as well, Susan. :)
