Yeah, that midnight shift in the all-night diner was interesting in that it was sometimes a kick to see what "oddities" would wander in off the streets at those hours. I used to joke, "So, THIS is where FELLINI gets his casting ideas!" :D

One favorite of mine was the old Southern guy who would come in and only order a glass of milk. He always referred to it as "Lord's cream".

I guess the "harmless" ones are the ones who just sit there and say off the wall stuff and don't bother anyone otherwise. Like the guy who kept after me to sell him my car. Said, "You could give me the car NOW, and I'll be back in a month and give you the MONEY." ;)

Re: "oddities" - it's the eccentrics that make life INTERESTING, LOL!

The harmless ones, I mean...

OK: define "harmless".....

This made me think of my favorite quote from a recent tv show:

"Define 'Normal', and make a good case for it." - young Bruce Wayne on Gotham.

"Monsters are real, and Ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win." Stephen King

I guess some would say that "normal" is anyone who behaves in a way that's acceptable to the majority of the people. And I'D say, based on that definition, it changes from region to region and from social class to class.

And age group to age group and on and on....
