I-missRichardTee
I used to play some melodica in a soul band on a few tunes, and it always got some kind of audience response... typically people coming up afterwards saying "what is that?!" I have played for years with a trombonist who doubles on melodica and it is inevitable that every single gig we do, one or more people will approach him to ask about the melodica, never the trombone. He says though, that finding even a decent one is not easy. You don't have ideas, ideas have you We see the world, not as it is, but as we are. "One mans food is another mans poison". Jon May
I play in a ska band with alto/trpt/trom section and this thread has encouraged me to try joining them on melodica for a number or two. Ironically the sax wanted to steal what is an obvious harmonica/melodica line from a recent song we learned. The cheek!! Currently I use a melodica sample on my Electro, but the visual entertainment factor of playing the real thing is valid. "I'm well acquainted with the touch of a velvet hand..."
