David R
And the hits just keep on coming... Confirmed by the family on his Twitter, and eulogies on Instagram from Questlove & Ed Motta. I remember reading his column in Keyboard in the '90s. Had no real idea who he was back then, and have only recently re-discovered his music thanks to the future funk/boogie revival. 56 is too young. BRW
I'm also a big fan of the "boogie" genre. He produced a lot of artists in that style in the 80's, his solo albums are also great. For example, Howard Johnson's "Keepin' Love New" is a good one...
Geoff Grace
Kashif was a talented musician who repeatedly gave back and helped others learn. Sad to see him goespecially at this relatively young age. Best, Geoff My Blue Someday appears on Apple Music | Spotify | YouTube | Amazon

ProfD
Kashif started as Michael Jones playing keyboards and composing tunes for BT Express. He pioneered R&B music production in the 1980s. A countless number of R&B music producers owe a huge debt of gratitude to him. RIP Mr. Jones aka Kashif. PD "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return."--E.
