It's not like Outcaster went out and bought the darn thing. You are correct, sir. He is playing my Nord Electro. This is what would be referred to as a "joke". I wanted to snap a photo of him playing the Nord and post it on the forum, and he agreed. Gary75
I'd say it was Photoshopped as the keyboard player seems to be centre stage, that would never happen in real life.
Outkaster
LOL. Figures my 5000th post is about a Nord.. Yes it's Jon's Nord. This is a weekly jam that goes from Sept till about May and sometimes I sit in and Jon took this picture. The Nord keyboard is very well built and has some really nice sounds. Hands done the Clav and EP's are killer. It truly is the Apple I-Phone of the keyboard world. I said it before if soccer moms played keyboards they would play Nords, I'm sure of it. I played three songs on it; Stand by Me, Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, and Ain't to Proud to Beg. Playing piano on it is a big no no for me. It hurt my hands while playing and the action doesn't give you anything back so certain runs are hard on it. Personally I would use this as a secondary board in a large keyboard rig. Yeah, I'd agree it's not a good choice as the primary board for a piano-oriented player, I really don't like Nord's SW actions for piano. Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! Outkaster
Probably not but I was trained on piano and still practice on one so I couldn't see myself using it. Semi-Weighted actions are weird as while I was playing it and looking at the drawbars I felt like I should be playing organ. "Danny, ci manchi a tutti. La E-Street Band non e' la stessa senza di te. ElmerJFudd
Hey Outkaster. You're not alone when it comes to some actions aggravating tendons or preferring to play piano sounds on an action with some weight and swing (the swing is the hard part that not all weighted actions do well). How do you feel about the TP-40W, 40L or the 100 we get on the Nords and Kurzweils. Or any of you guys. I have my own experiences with them. The 40 variations feel a lot better than the 100. I can get by, but not my favorite. It's ok. How cool would it be to see Kurzweil tap their Young Chang connection to source a nice action for their higher end keyboards? Renner says Young Chang (and many others) source their actions but I wonder if that's true on their uprights or just their grands? Outkaster
Not sure. It's just something I worry about. Since breaking a finger in May in Judo class I have some arthritis that has developed which the Ortho people told me would happen. Any action I get now really has to be right or as close as possible to the real thing if possible. "Danny, ci manchi a tutti. La E-Street Band non e' la stessa senza di te. rickzjamm
I owned a NE3 a few years ago & I liked the action for organ sounds but not for APs or even EPs, I just figured the newer NE5 action was new & improved. The action on my Forte compliments both worlds nicely. You don't know you're in the dark until you're in the light.
