zephonic
This video demonstrates the power of the built-in speakers: [video:youtube]qgWnrINv50M Not shabby, I like it. But 52 lbs? I guess it couldn't be much lighter with quality amplification onboard. local: Korg Nautilus 61 AT | Yamaha MODX8 away: GigPerformer | 16" MBP M1 Max home: Kawai RX-2 | Korg D1 | Roland Fantom X7
John64
I think that with the release of the FP-90 a new flagship Roland stage piano is not far off.
Legatoboy
I have the FP-80.... probably will not upgrade. They are great in terms of their accompaniment capabilities that will follow your chord changes and as general gigging and recording axes. Really, not that I have tried every instrument w/accompaniment capabilities but I haven't found another/tried another that worked as well as the Rolands. They are pretty good. They are heavy though as the 80 is - I see still 52 Lbs. 2 recordings w/FP80: (all FP80 in one shot) except for 1 sparse 'live' 2nd Marimba overdub on NIT. The main Marimba part/Bass/Horns was the accompaniment generated from my LH chord. Night in Tunisia: Night in Tunisia-: Black Friday Odyssey: (did this very quickly that Fri. morn!) Bachus
Finally some realmcompetition for the Kawai es8.. It has the keybed and the sounds of the lx17.. Which plays like a charm... ElmerJFudd
Alrighty, back to this b*tch. Street price is actually $1799 which is an interesting spot to be in - undercutting the Kawai ES8 by $200 and significantly less expensive than the CP-300. Upping Roland's game with a PHA-50 action, dual 25 watt amps pushing 8x12cm speakers, separate 5 watt amps for the little tweeters. Unlimited polyphony on the pianos. 384 poly on everything else. Bluetooth audio, MIDI, and page turning, 1/4" Mic input with fx. But it's bloody 52lbs 1oz. Should be readily available soon. Let us know if you get your hands on one. Dave Ferris
Would love one for the office if it plays and sounds as the good as the reviews. Never thought I'd say it but getting a bit burned on the CP5 action and sound. I guess that's a normal progression considering the tech is going on 7 years old. I'm having a harder time executing and being smooth on fast tempos on the CP5. I go out to the studio , sit down at the D and play my usual up-temp stuff - Airgen, Moment's Notice, Just one of those things, Man I love, Song is you, Rhythm changes etc. - at 140-152 = half noteand then think , ok glad it's not my chops. I got a pair of the Senn HD650s for Christmas (B&H had a $180 price drop) wow nice ! On one hand it improves the CP5 sound but also brings out the imperfections of a 7 year old sample and DAC. Hopefully the Roland would be sonically sweeter, thicker and have more substance/resistance then the CP5 action. https://soundcloud.com/dave-ferris https://www.youtube.com/@daveferris2709 2005 NY Steinway D Yamaha AvantGrand N3X, CP88, P515
ElmerJFudd
They've trickled down this modeling engine from the V piano of theirs all the way down the line just about. It appears attacks are still tricky to get right, so they are doing a D-50 here on the sampled attacks and using super natural engine for smooth transitions I'm guessing. I need to play one and see what's what. It's really hard to get a good action in a compact space and movable weight.
