Would love to hear from any of you that have one. This completes my vision of an all virtual rig. Without this I couldn't envision a way to easily call up patches at random.

Wheee!!!

I think it would be really considerate of everyone's time here if we all were to try and refrain from a) titling threads that give absolutely no indication about the actual subject matter, and b) posting links without giving any indication whatsoever what the link pertains to or where it might be taking us if we were to click on it.

I just opened this thread and clicked on the link, only to find out that it pertains to something I have absolutely no interest in.

Yeah- took me a bit to remember how to do that.

You can do pretty much anything you want with this- send PC messages out on 16 channels with a single keystroke. Preset or on the fly. Best of all, you can enter the PC you want, then it doesn't send anything until you hit the Enter key. FINALLY! So many devices don't allow you to go from a patch to any other patch WITHOUT SELECTING SOME OTHER PATCH IN BETWEEN. What I mean is you either have to scroll, or switch banks, which changes the patch before you select the one you want. This would allow me to enter the channel, Bank, patch number I want while playing one patch, then hit enter to INSTANTLY call up the next one I need.

Comes with USB and DIN MIDI.

Not that one. I have this Roland one. I think a 10-key pad is the best way to select sounds. Category search is great at home. But on the stage I just want to go to what I know I stored in location 43.

Bill,

If you already have a smartphone or tablet, why not use it to send program change messages? The only additional hardware you'd needs a midi interface and they can be had fairly economically and are compact these days.

Good Idea- I'll be using my laptop to host the VIs, but is there a way in MainStage to use a numeric keypad to call up patches? My iPad is already running the app to control my monitor mix and displaying charts.

I also think the hardware numeric keys would be able to be keyed without looking. I might be singing or watching the bandleader or singer while calling up a patch.

I use ForScore. What I need is to be able to call up any patch, on any instrument, at random, as quickly as possible. Don't need to always call up a specific patch when I open a chart.

I've been researching, and can't find an app that will allow a standard numeric keypad connected to my MacBook to call up Mainstage patches. It looks like I can possibly make a single key call up a patch, but I need way more patches available to me.

There are many ways I can setup specific patches for a show or setlist. I'm looking to be way more flexible than that.

In a Concert each patch is given a program change number from 0 to 127. If there more than 127 patches the numbers are duplicated, so the practical max for your purposes is 127.

See here for more info.

I use MobileSheets Pro on a Samsung Galaxy Tab A + a Roland USB MIDI interface. Works great!
