Okay, armchair quarterbacks, forget Apple, it's Roland time!

Okay, kids, put away your sharpened sticks and tar'n'feather kits you've been aiming at Apple and their "shitty design choices" ... it's time for all the bitching, moaning and whining to achieve a sharpened focus on that target of peoples' ire: Roland

Yep, that's right, in less than 24 hours, Roland will be launching a whole new series of products... the largest single launch in their history.

So sharpen a whole other set of sticks (never cross-contaminate your pitards between computer manufacturers and MI companies, folks, the CDC is quite clear about this!), and get ready to bitch and moan your way into a frothy mess.

Aaaaaaaaand.... go! :snax:

We're pretty clear on the System-8, TR-09 and the TB-03.

I'm eager to see what they have for stage piano refresh. RD-XXX.

Digital Pianos... Might see an update to the V-Piano?

They recently showed some nice LX models.

Jupiters might get an update. Curious what a Roland flagship synth looks like in 2017.

And the FAs. Long in the tooth already? The action on the 06 and VR-09 could use a little closer attention.

Would love to see Roland get back into VR-700/760 territory. Improving on feedback from the VR-09 in a better build quality and action.

From Facebook

"A grand piano brings refinement and sophistication to your home, becoming the centerpiece of a roomeven if you dont play the piano. One of Rolands forthcoming new pianos is ideal for people who have longed to enjoy the grace and splendor of a grand piano at home. A beautiful, classically styled piano at heart, its also packed with Rolands unique digital piano advantages. Authentic sound and touch will impress even the most accomplished players, yet your children will also enjoy practicing every single day."

"A truly expressive drummer can amaze audiences with their subtle mastery of the snare drum and ride cymbal. For years, Roland has developed snare and ride cymbal technology that lets the drummers technique shine. But where will the quest for artistic expression lead us now? The next chapter of the V-Drums story is about to begin."

Quite surprising, a Wind Controller too. Maybe Roland will update their SN synths to allow expression to extend to the phrase, not just the note.

I'm with Sven on this one. I've become increasingly tired of seeing every new big-name synth release not only scorched after only a few units have made it into the field, but often before anyone outside the factory even touches one. I can't speak for everyone, but my self-image has yet to be affected by any manufacturer's choice of filters. All of that hollering, sheesh... you'd think someone was aiming a crossbow at their nads. If Roland released an otherwise totally "true" Jupiter-8 with better end caps that didn't act like baloney slicers during moving, someone would carp about THAT. If it featured a step-sequencer of only 32 steps instead of 64, one squad within the battalion would form up to condemn the perceived limitations of the length and another would turn purple over the sequencer not being an original-spec feature. I have a better idea: burning CDs of all that I can before the next big sun flare turns all of my various drives into high-tech suppositories. Hopefully, my optical media and I will make it through. Priorities, people.

This technology stuff is serious business. These cos have sold us on how ' this ' is how we define ourselves.

So we have to keep up. By trotting out our favorite assumptions we either stay in a safety zone or challenge ourselves with something new.

Why fit in, when you were born to stand out ?

bring back the A70 :D

Yes. With the Fantom X action and USB Audio/MIDI interfacing.

But seriously, I do hope for the Jupiter 80's successor tomorrow.

back on topic, watching the video now of the new Roland DJ 808.

I'll probably buy one for my 22 year old son as I can't use it for the type of music I do. :idk

Which is anything that doesn't include scratching from a digital reproduction of an actual turntable.

Remind me to water my lawn in the morning.

The Boutique VP-03 vaguely interests me...however, limited polyphony will probably hinder any further interest. Also, gooseneck mics suck.

The 909 is the most overrated drum machine ever, unless you're into House or 90's Eurodance.

Mmm, nothing RD or Jupiter related. System 8 looks interesting.

The System-8 has a JP8 plug out model. I checked out the sweet water video - sounds reasonable to me.
