xKnuckles
I urgently need to be able to add some music from my computer to my phone (computer is a Windows surface). When I tried earlier today, it simply wouldn't. So I updated to the latest version of iTunes, and now it doesn't even SEE my phone. Can anyone help? I need this sorted before tomorrow morning - and am just off to s gig.does the latest version of iTunes work properly for any of you? MathOfInsects
When I add songs to my kids' non-Apple mp3 players, I just open the mp3 player's music folder and drag the music files themselves over to it. Would something similar be an option in this case? Now out! "Mind the Gap," a 24-song album of new material. www.joshweinstein.com
xKnuckles
That's a good idea maths - thanks - but unfortunately I no longer possess an MP3 player..... "Turn your fingers into a dust rag and keep them keys clean!" Bluzeyone
ElmerJFudd
I'm assuming you already disconnected the iPhone, restarted the Surface, launched iTunes, reconnected the iPhone and unlocked the iPhone with your password or thumbprint? Also, might try different USB port of your Surface has some to choose from. Yamaha CP88, Casio PX-
MoodyBluesKeys
I think it is latest 12.4.3.1 No problems seeing either iPad or the iPhone. I don't change music frequently, but there are app updates every couple of days. My wife also has it on her computer for iPhone 6. Elmer's suggestions good to start. If the Surface is running Windows 10, every time they have a significant update, USB to the Apple devices has to go through the whole driver procedure again. Since W10 version 1607 started being deployed in early August, that may have more effect. However, both of our machines are on 1607. Dockeys
Dunno if this helps but sometime I have to transfer tunes to my iPhone but they don't copy across so I downloaded an iphone pp called Awesome to do. It's an MP3 player app. Then I emailed the time to myself, opened it in my email app and then there's an option to open the MP3 with a choice of apps and I choose awesome to do. It just copies it over to the app and you can play it like in any MP3 player app. It's a roundabout solution but works for me when I'm in a hurry and the up horn isn't syncing properly. I've no affiliation with the app, it ain't pretty but it works. Yamaha MODX8, Legend Live.
DulceLabs.com
Are you using a Genuine Apple Cable? If I use a generic I can't get my computer to see my iPhone....
xKnuckles
Thanks so much everybody!!! Success!!! I did your checklist, Elmer, then had to do the drivers - thanks MoodyBluesKeys. I also checked my cable - good point Scott. Incredibly, iTunes is now cooperating and I have managed to transfer the music with just 6 hours to go! I was planning to download your app, Dockeys, if all else failed (and usually it does..) but just this once, it seems that Fate has smiled on me.
