Interview with "Survive" re: "Stranger Things" Soundtrack

It's brief, but some good synth talk in here:

My fav quote: "Every synth has a magical power, if you wanna call it that. Every synthesizer can do something really well, no matter what it is, even its the cheapest, shittiest thing. It will shine in some aspect."

If you haven't seen the show yet (WATCH IT! - It oozes early 80's analog synth goodness), here's the main theme:

A little confused Scott. Your post seemed to imply you were quoting some interview with the composers? Do you have a link to that interview?

I did click on your link to the extended theme and am digging the 10 minute version. Also saw the soundtrack is available on iTunes. YES!

Kawai C-60 Grand Piano : Hammond A-100 : Hammond SK2 : Yamaha CP4 : Yamaha Montage 7 : Moog Sub 37

My latest album: Funky organ, huge horn section

Sorry gents. Brain fart - added link to main post and it's here as well. Like I said it's short, but sweet:

I watched the series. And it always reminded me of John Carpenter's soundtracks, where he'd often write and perform much, if not all, of it, using analog synths ( because back then that's all there was, for the most part ) . Often very sparse, sparing, and minimalist.

I purchased the soundtrack and have been listening all morning. I drove to do some errands in the late AM and enjoyed driving around with this menacing synth music pulsing underneath. It made my neighborhood seem a lot more sinister.

I binge-watched it this weekend and really enjoyed the show and music. Highyl recommended.

Yeah I did the same thing. Made the stupid mistake of starting it at 11 at night. Long story short, I was up all night till the last episode. Worth it.

Anywho, here's a neat demo on how to make some of the sounds:
