Markyboard
I just found out about and installed an OS update for the Voyager (3.6). Not just bug fixes but a couple of new useful enhancements. This was just released a few weeks ago, more than 6 months after the Voyager was discontinued although I realize the XL is still in production, but still. I'm unaware of any other synth hardware products with updates provided for this long (about 13.5 years)let alone after it was discontinued. Can anyone think of any others? I love updates to older equipment.
mate stubb
I have a Nord Stage 2 which had an update last year. This was after it was discontinued but only about 5 years after it was released. Still, not bad! Moe --- "I keep wanting to like it's sound, but every demo seems to demonstrate that it has the earth-shaking punch and peerless sonics of the Roland Gaia. RABid
Nord does well with update support. I don't remember how many years but they put a lot of updates out for the original Nord Modular. Access is another. They continued to support the older Virus models long after releasing new versions. This post edited for speling.
Markyboard
Didn't know that about Nord. I used to also really like when manufacturers offered expansion kits to the orginal model ala Roland MC 500 Mk II and the Korg Wavestation Ex. Can't think of any recent products that take this approach.
Jamie Finstad
Mark, Where did you find the update? I checked their site (Support > Downloads) and didn't see anything. It's entirely possible that I'm blind and/or technically useless but I couldn't see it! Thanks, Jamie
Doerfler
You must be reading my mind again, Mark. I was going to ask you about this and I just got back from holiday and you posted it. Thanks. @ Jamie- I know it lives in the Voyager Folder of the "Knob Tweaks" Yahoo Group. You will have to join the group to access the folder. BTW, it is officially a "beta" OS so maybe that is why you had difficulty finding it.
Markyboard
I found a link here. Scroll down a little bit and you'll see the links from Rudi. I tried to join Knob Tweeks but never got authorization. Guess they're much smarter then the mods at KC.

drohm
Cool! Thanks for the heads up on the Voyager. I have one, but did not know about the update. The Access Virus TI2 has also been a long running synth with updates. Spider76
Nord last year also updated the Wave and the Electro 3, both discontinued years ago.
WheelHead
I'm unaware of any other synth hardware products with updates provided for this long (about 13.5 years)let alone after it was discontinued. Can anyone think of any others? I love updates to older equipment. Perhaps not traditional synth and not a firmware (though there were firmware updates that made the reverse/black keys programmable as a preset with a few-second hold, etc) Original Hamichord manufactured in 2007 so far will run any of the organ updates VBCE2 Technically, pre 2008 "not supported" in favor of the 2nd and 3rd incarnation but everything works Too bad this line was discontinued - great organ but was on another price threshold (imo) that did not work like the Mojo (though the Mojo is shorter and easier to handle adding to that) This first version is like the Mojo with the embedded board built in - not the removable slide-in computer unit. I would like to put a faster computer board in it, though works fine now, but the board has recognition coding to the VBCE2 for copy protection If a stand alone software of the organ is released or if there is a way to swap to the DSP module that may evolve (It has MIDI-only too without starting the organ computer so HX3 would work and an external module) I may upgrade it someday Came originally with Native Instruments B4 and has the logo and has gone through many incarnations I had Apple EVB3 programmed at one time too with an Event Processor that ran perfectly on all controls that has not be used in a long time and I lost the RTF I programmed (doesn't matter do not use) 9 years updating and going (so far) Has lived up exactly to the original advertising as updatable and "the classic vintage (B3) interface will never be old" This was built originally by BG's but Crumar took over and then continued to have organ updates I have it plugged to a 3300 WH
Markyboard
Good ones guys. I'm not sure whether I would have considered the PC3 discontinued as opposed to slightly evolved into an updated model. But I guess that equally applies to the original Voyager vs XL. You did remind me that the KORE 64 board was one of those rare hardware "kit" updates in modern times. Add to that a couple of additional firmware updates and yes, definitely a great example. I wasn't aware of the others mentioned - thank for sharing. Dave Weiser
The Kurz PC3 was updated about 5 years after release and after being discontinued. In addition to the time span for updates, the size and scope of some of the Kurz updates were (and still are) pretty huge. PC3 added new DSP items like sync saw and square oscillators (which took a ton of engineering man hours), step/pattern sequencer (in the arpeggiator), user intonation tables, all kinds of cool stuff. And the Forte has received even bigger updates since its initial release as a stage piano two years ago: half pedaling, string resonance, full VAST and effects editing and now in the beta OS (which many customers have) user sample loading (about 3.5 GB). Nord has also always been great about providing updates over many years. https://www.theboywhowantedtorock.com http://www.weisersound.com https://www.facebook.com/weisersound
Markyboard
One more hardware kit update comes to mind. The POT kit for the original DSI Poly Evolver and Mono Evolver Keyboards just made these so much more pleasurable to edit. I know some prefer the endless encoders but not me, I prefer POT. And curiously, it was also made available outside Washington State and Colorado.
