Scott Fraser
OK, no asking price but the owner wants you to pony up $60k to get the boat into shape to sell. Scott Fraser
hurricane hugo
wow, I had no idea that that boat was so unique that only one guy on the planet could do all that work! /s http://blip.fm/invite/WorkRelease
Dannyalcatraz
Perhaps the guy is a professional boat restorer AND a Fender fan- IOW, he won't let anyone he doesn't approve of buy it. Larryz
I think he's just trying to create a job for himself for the next year or so, as he couldn't afford to do the restoration on his own. He'll probably want to live aboard while he's doing all that work he never got to LOL! The only thing you should have to do to "qualify" to buy a boat, is to come up with the money... Take care, Larryz

Caevan O’Shite
These are lovely boats. The M40, 42, 43 and 45 were all great and are all still great. desertbluesman
This is a 1958 Matthews that was originally owned by Leo Fender of Fender guitars. In order to qualify to buy this boat you would likely need to commit to paying me to do the following work. $30,000 for a top of the line paint and varnish job. $10,000 for bottom paint. $10,000 into properly engineer and upgrade engines. $10,000 into electronics. I'll do all that work for half the price, and hire an electrician to sub contract the sparky stuff. And still make a killing on it. I don't care who owned the thing anyways. http://www.kolobok.us/smiles/artists/just_cuz/JC-hysterical.gif However Leo was a musical instrument genius..... dbm If it sounds good, it is good !! http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=143231&content=music
Scott Fraser
I don't care who owned the thing anyways. Unless he built a few amps into the cabinetry & left a few guitars aboard. But anybody could do the restoration for a whole lot less than this guy is asking for. Sounds like he's not selling a boat but looking for a job. Winston Psmith
The whole thing strikes me as "drunk thinking". It probably seemed like a brilliant idea when he posted it; get rid of a boat that he can't afford to care for, while getting the buyer to pay him twice, once for the boat, and again for the ridiculous charge for his labor. (I have to wonder how qualified this guy is, if he can't maintain the boat to begin with?) Let's see how long the ad stays up before the price comes down . . . or the boat sinks.
