Lindaru
I know for myself, I have used my sitar patch and pitch bends on a few songs that I have written. I owe all of that to this guy! Happy 96th! Playing it still from over there, I bet! Clonk for the Google doodle article
JAD
I was fortunate enough to see him and his daughter Anoushka before he passed. Even though George Harrison and some other legendary musicians over the years have helped bring some more light to it, Indian classical music remains a greatly underappreciated art form. "Jazz is the only music in which the same note can be played night after night but differently each time." Ornette Coleman
RABid
I honestly had no idea he was that old. I have a couple CD's and after seeing this thread I looked up the recording dates. They are from the 60's! It is a mark of a great artist when your music turns out to be timeless. This post edited for speling. mate stubb
I saw him on the same bill as Mahavishnu Orchestra. Truly a virtuoso at the height of his powers. Moe ---
