I am NOT flattered OH NO~! and I AM P.O'd about several aspecta about this latest turn. sounds to me as if THEY make a BUCK and I NO make Ka,KA. Hi We are producing a range of narration CDs which will be sold in a number of high street shops. We are looking for a selection of music to play in the background (and foreground at times) during the CD and I think that the kind of stuff you do might be appropriate. I need to tell you at the outset that we are unable to pay you for the music initially although after producing the first CD we would pay for all future music. However, we will be able to print your name, contact details, web address etc on the CD inlay which will be good publicity for you. You should remember that this CD will be listened to by the customer many times over, and so in time they will get to know your music and as such may well be interested in purchasing it ? or signing you if they happen to be in the business! We would obviously not have the rights to reproduce your music anywhere other than on this one specific CD and would issue contracts to this affect. In essence, this may be an outlet for you to get your music heard by a wider audience and from our point of view allows us to test the market while keeping our costs low. As I say, assuming the CDs do as well as we expect, we would then be happy to pay for future music. We are aiming to produce approximately 100,000 CDs in the first year, increasing to 300,000 in the second. We will have a range of titles with various themes and music. Your music may only appear on one CD initially. However once we start working together we will undoubtedly be interested in using your music for further CDs. The CD will retail in the UK initially, in various high street shops such as WH Smiths, Tesco?s, Woolworths etc. We expect to sell the product abroad in year 2. GeorgeVW
From the looks of their website, they're in the business of licensing music to others, and advertise their own "in-house" songwriting and music production teams. Hmmmmm, I wonder why they're looking for music from outside? (Note: this is a rhetorical question only. I actually have a pretty good idea of why)
kylen
However once we start working together we will undoubtedly be interested in using your music for further CDs. he he - once you sign the contract where you 'contribute' a small amount for studio time, mastering, packaging. Remember just this little donation will make you successful beyond your wildest dreams, wha-ha-ha-ha, and we picked you because we recognize your potential and desire, wha-ha-ha-ha, and...etc. he he
Slowly
Check them out. It might be legit. But make sure it's a contract you can walk away from and take all your stuff with you. Have three good friends and a lawyer look it over. Kcbass "Let It Be!"
