My old Ultimate Support bench finally gave up the ghost last week. I had recovered the original seat twice, replaced it once, recovered that twice, but the hardware is just getting too loose and sloppy to repair again. I'd been looking for something with a back rest. Tried my son's round Rock n' Sock for a night and hated it. Those goofy folding guitar player seats didn't really look like the answer. I realized what I really wanted was a light weight, portable, folding version of the piano chair I used to haul around when I was young and strong.

After much Googling I found this:

just purchased a Casio Px-5s last week. I had been gigging with just a Kronos 61, but really wanted a weighted 8& that was light and had a comfortable action. I ended up with the Px-5s instead of the Px-150/350 as I wanted the larger sound set and controller options, and I am thinking of using this paired with Nord E2 and Vent for organs and leaving the Kronos behind. I perfer the hands on contrs and interface of the Electro over the Kronos and I even the would give the nod to the Electro's organ over the Kronos CX-3. It is also much lighter and no long boot up time. I mainly play organ/piano/Ep's and the Casio does that pretty well.
Nord Stage 3 Compact, Korg Kronos 61, Casio PX-5S, Yamaha DXR 10 (2)), Neo Vent, Yamaha MG82cx mixer and too many stands to name.

Got a Proel 4-channel line mixer for $25 from the 'Bay. Works great if I'm using a smaller setup and the house has a good monitor setup. Small enough to sit on top of my PC2X right where I can easily access it and mix my rig (PC2X, K2000, and TR-Rack.)

This Sunday i will buy a Hohner Pianet T. I had bought it three years ago, i have worked on it very hard(cleaning, tuning, put super sticky pads), i sold it and now it's time to take it back.

I will use it for recordings and live(not for practice because if i play it every day, i will "destroy" my hands...the keybed it's average but sound and authenticity are great !!!

I just picked this up last week:

http://gakki.me/mainimg1/korg_sq1_img.jpg

Really digging it, way more than I even thought. I'm using it to sequence my MOTM modular, which seems a little silly given that the SQ-1 is so tiny, it's smaller than any of my modules. But it's a really capable sequencer, it can either be 2X8-step or 1X16-step, can be clocked from internally, from USB, or, coolest of all, any 5v analog square wave. I've clocked it from LFO's and VCO's, and it tracks all the way into the audio range, making some really cool noisy patches. One minor downside is that you can't clock the 2 step sequencers separately, but given how cheap the unit is, I seriously considering getting a second one.

just got it yesterday, only spent a few minutes with it but damn, this little baby sounds HUGE.

And I was seriously surprised by the keyboard: not cheap at all, really nice and solid feel (and aftertouch!)

My latest purchase is far from new, a Roland super JX-10. Needs a good clean up in and out, just got the vecoven 3.0 upgrade and will give it a good going over. Unfortunately it didn't come with a cartridge, but for $275, Im not complaining.

I just picked up a 2nd Lexicon MX 200 2 days ago. I really wanted something in the effects pedal type of format as opposed to a 19" rack mounted unit but nothing competes with the Lexicon in the under US $200.00 price range.

Nothing too exciting: a bundle of mic cables and a cable tester.

We had a little issue at Saturday's gig where we had used absolutely all of our mic cables...

...and then one went bad.

Not sure what happened to all our spares, but looks like the soldering iron and I will be getting a workout before the next gig.

Pulled this out of Utica, NY. Needs work on the amp and Wes will help me. It has a early 70's 122 tag but someone swapped the amp out and replaced it with a 147 Amp. I had to buy a 147 kit and replace the upper drive belt also. It's a beater but someone will want it.

Bought this MIDI controller keyboard almost 3 weeks ago: Novation SL-MKII 61 (link from SOS review)

It's going to replace my Graphite 49 as an alternate 2nd-tier keyboard (on top of either the PX-5S or FA-06), hooked up to a laptop of course with Virtual instruments for live use. Just wanted to get a few more keys-real-estate from a MIDI keyboard controller. The Graphite 49 will now be relegated to DAW-PC duties along with my older PX-320.

Also, just bought this unit last week: Novation Audiohub 2x4 (link from keyboard mag review)

Hi Bennyray, I am really loving the NE5d. Had a hard time deciding between it or a Hammond SK1, but I am happy with my decision. I have gigged with it 4 times now and even the other band members comment on the improved sound. The user interface is performance oriented, user friendly, and the quality of the patches has inspired me to practice for longer periods of time. Only downside is that the initial cost is high, but Nords seem to hold their value well and I plan on keeping it for a long while. Next goal is to get it paid off, lol!

The OP did better than me. Killer score man! Congrats!

I mentioned this earlier but now had a chance delve into it. I just got a Mopho desk top. Two reasons. One, its small and compact. Two, it 100% analog.

This thing is a beast! Two oscillators. Both completely tweakable. Oscillators are also mixable. A really cool feature.

Four assignable knobs along with the typical ones round this synth out nicely. The parameter list that you can assign to these knobs is huge! It makes the program (patch) your working on so expressive, it will suprise you.

A 4×16 arp. is one of them parameters. 4 different patterns with 16 steps each means you cab get some wicked grooves going. Can also make the vco(s) unstable. So it really give that vintage vibe anothplace". That spot where everjiving, all your assignable knobs are what you want. You just with you could snapshot this program and all its attributes. Hit the "write" switch and you cab. Even name it. Then store it in any bank abvmn xxmAb bbii7jjjmmkjñ pp

Blah! Who slipped the mirco dot in my kit kat?

Anyway, write button lets you save the whole your working on and even name it and store it in any bank. Each bank (3 of them)) has 128 program spots to save it. Perfect for gigs or location for production.

Final thought, I just covered a few things can do. Bundles with a software that lets you see whats going on better. I've played alot of synths through the years. This one is one of the, if not the best I heard and most versatile. $329 bones. Can stick it anywhere. Plus audio in feature! This thing is pysst! ;)

I just purchased this a few days ago. I wanted a 61, sort of portable midi controller that could allow me to connect it to my ipad. I received it and *surprise surprise*...this updated model does not use BUS power from the ipad. So there goes my portable, play anywhere option. I need to purchase a powered USB hub to use it. I also bought it blind and I'm not crazy about the keybed either. It's not bad, but it's not great. And it doesn't have velocity curve levels to modify. At this point I'm not sure if I'll keep it or not. I'm thinking of getting either a Carbon Graphite 49 (as much as I'd like a 61, it only comes in 49 or 25) or save up a little more and get a Roland A800 or A500.

Kawai MP7SE ::: Yamaha CK-61 ::: Novation Launchkey 61 ::: Roland CM-30 Speaker ::: Ipad Mini 5 with a lot of apps for live playing (Hammond B3-X, PianoTeq 8 iOS, Korg Module, Thumbjam, etc.)
