cphollis
TC-Helicon VoiceLive 3 Extreme. Background? There's this female vocalist I love playing with. She approached me with the idea of a duo act that could get into small spaces. She sings, but I don't much. She likes the idea of harmonies and other vocal effect on demand, as do I. I'll be programming the effects and occasional backing tracks. The reviews say "amazing piece of tech", but the dark side is more-than-average mechanical failures. So I bought it from Sweetwater, of course. Quote Want to make your band better? Check out "A Guide To Starting (Or Improving!) vonnor
This funky metal contraption. Finally found one with the short upper tier brackets included. ~ gonner Ugh. So this is definitely a later generation. Much flimsier than I remember. Also it has a gloss finish rather than a satin finish, the cross bar is butt welded (centered) instead of bent and welded along the "L" and it doesn't extend as tall as I remember. Slightly disappointed. It is in great cosmetic shape though so I'll likely keep it. ~ gonner Quote Gear: Hardware: Nord Stage4, Korg Kronos 2, Novation Summit Software: Cantabile 3, Halion Sonic 3 and assorted VST plug-ins. Tom Williams
So why's it called "C Penta" when it's a full diatonic major octave (plus a dominant)? CEB
Been buying a bunch of guitars this year that I don"t need. Bought an old Les Paul Junior, a sloped shoulder Martin dreadnaught. The latest is a less expensive Epiphone but I really like it. A smaller body Casino hollow body. My tech has it installing strap locks, locking tuners and doing a setup. It has some minor finish issues but I think it will look good with my gig clothes. Quote "It doesn't have to be difficult to be cool" - Mitch Towne "A great musician can bring tears to your eyes!!! vonnor
God help me. Another one. Adan
I don't know how to post photos here. I'll try to keep my review short by saying, I've owned several rhodes in the past and the VV is the best by far. And yes, it is a "rhodes" by any other name. It may not have the deep crunch of a Mark I suitcase (the favorite of my past collection), but it's more responsive and expressive than any rhodes I've played. The tremolo and tone-shaping of the active circuit is great, but the pure sound from the "send" jack is closer to the much-loved "Herbie" tone. If you get an Active you have both options. I was either going to get an upright piano or a VV. I'm happy with my choice. My wife picked Canadian Blue for the lid, which is a sparkle. Because it's sitting in "her" living room, she got too choose. I think it's spectacular, but true to form, she was hesitant to praise it in the flesh. "Doesn't quite match the blue of our front door." This is the cross she bears being a design and color fanatic. But I suppose it's like me picking apart the differences between Evans and Kelly on Kind of Blue -- a distinction she'd never even notice. In summary, believe the hype. This is a great and classic instrument. Quote Gigging: Crumar Mojo 61, Hammond SKPro Home: Vintage Vibe
vonnor
@Adan: Be sure to "Use Full Editor" (button at bottom of web page) then look down a bit below the text area where it says "Attachment Manager" Click that then "Select a File To Attach" and pick a photo from your computer. Not sure if that works on a mobile phone as I always use my computer to post here. Konnector
Roland FA-07. I was gifted a brand new Moog Sub-Phatty from the guys at work, (part of my early retirement bonus) but decided it wasn't something I really wanted or needed. Came across a super deal on a new FA-07, so I took back the Moog and ended up paying $350 Cdn for the FA-07. Can't beat that! I have a fully loaded JV-1080, which makes the FA redundant in many ways, but it's easier to get around in, so I thought I'd give it a whirl and see if I like it. Haven't spent much time with it yet as I'm up to my eyeballs doing a total kitchen - living room - dining room renovation. Who said retirement was living the easy life?? Also picked up a Lounsberry Organ Grinder pedal awhile ago to compliment my clonewheel / ventilator.
Tonysounds
Ive been on a little buying spree. I sold my CP73 which netted me a sweet Suitcase 88 Mark 2, and a Clavinet C in very good condition. I've bought a shitload of pedals, some old some not, including a couple phasers (MXR 100 and a Red Witch), Strymon Volante, a Boss waza CE2, a couple different Mooer pedals, an old Twah and a Strymon Iridium for my Clavinet, and a Collider for my Prophet 6. HSS
I just bought an open box / return electronic Alesis Nitro Mesh drum kit for about half price. I had sold my old vintage 1971 Ludwig Probeat drum kit and 1970 Rogers 6.5" Dynasonic snare drum for good money a while back thinking that I was through with drums but I found that, after having played drums since I was 13 years old, I miss having a kit at home to wack on. I also plan to use the Alesis kit for recording my own material because I'm tired of programming drums and using drum machines.
