Kawai K1 hold(sustain) problem.

Before 15 years i had bought a used kawai k1. I was sell it before 7 years and now it's time to re-buy it. The same K1.

I took it a week ago from the friend i had sell it to do some tests with my current set up.

I have a problem.

The sustain pedal of K1 works with Logic X but it does not works both with mainstage 2 and 3 nor my kurzweil K2661. It is not transmit sustain pedal data to mainstage and kurz. It receives sustain data from kurz.

It is very strange because when i press sustain pedal both to Logic and Mainstage, i see the 64 number at my monitor. Also when i press the learn(assign) function in mainstage and press the pedal it recognize the pedal, but is not working.

Kawai K1 manual(version 1.00) writes that it recognize but not send sustain data. My K1 has system version 1.30. If it is not send sustain data why sustain works with Logic.(7 years ago when i worked it as controller with sonar, the hold(sustain pedal) also works fine as with logic now...).

I send this question to Kawai Europe too...

According to my manual, I do not see sustain at all in the MIDI Implementation chart. Hold 1 is CC 64, but nothing for sustain.

It is the same, the hold does the same "job", works as sustain.

Have you tried another keyboard with Logic and with MainStage? It doesn't seem like the issue is the Kawai as it's transmitting the sustain and even MainStage sees it. Make sure the CC # is the same with the other keyboard as well.

After a discussion "via email" with Hans-Jürgen from Kawai Europe I solve the problem with MainStage 3.

Kawai has the same problem as roland in the link below(Hans-Jürgen send to me the link).

https://www.ableton.com/answers/how-do-i-get-my-sustain-pedal-to-work-in-ableton

When a key depressed it sends a "all notes off" midi message that cancel the sustain pedal's midi message.

In mainstage 3, i choose "assignments and mappings" and then i choose in "channel 1-16" the "Unassigned" function and disable it.

The sustain works fine.

I will try to solve the problem with MainStage 2 i will post again.
