B3bluesman59 Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 I have had a couple of these bags for my JBL G2s and now my 515XT powered speakers. These bags sell online for $150+. Both sets of bags had holes in the bottom after limited use...and the 515 bags have been really poor quality....the full length zipper broke and now the stitching is coming apart on one of the side pockets. Of course the sliding handles have always been an issue...JBL says not to use them for picking up, etc....but even with careful handling one of the sliding handles is now stuck in the fully extended position. I am a part time music dude...6 or 8 gigs a month and I treat my gear gently...it's not like these bags have been on tour on the road. Anybody else having quality problems with the JBL wheeled bags?
zxcvbnm098 Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 I have been meaning to get a pair of these for my own G2's. Sounds like not such good deal..
Paul Harrison Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 I bought a pair of the JBL wheeled bags for my EON 515XTs nearly a year ago ... have used them at least once every week or two since then with no problems and negligible wear & tear.
richforman Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 Now that you mention it, I have most of issues you mention with the bag I got for my Eon 15 G2 as well. Hole in that bag, the zipper handles both broke, and (I bought the amp and the bag used) the handle has been stuck in the up position since day 1. Only the zipper issue really bugs me though, thinking of trying to MacGuyver it with a strong paper clip or something. In any case it seems like something I'm kinda stuck with it, need the wheels and it's not like there's any competing bag I can carry that amp in. B3bluesman59 Posted December 22, 2014 Author Posted December 22, 2014 Today I found a shoe repair shop that also repairs luggage. I took my bag in and they are going to repair it for $38 which includes a new full length zipper and stitching up the top of the bag which is starting to separate from the seam and also stitching up the side pocket which was also coming apart. I treat my gear with kid gloves and there is no way this bag should be falling apart like it is doing. Oh well, $38 to repair it is way better than $150 plus for a new bag.
WesG Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 If you can, get the repair shop to use a YKK zipper. Best zippers in the world. B3bluesman59 Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 Happy to report I got my JBL bag back.....and yes, the shop did use a YKK zipper for replacement and stitched up the loose edges and even cleaned the bag. Certainly worth $38.00 total for material and labor.
