Hammond XK-1C remote program change

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm trying to remotely change patches on my XK-1C, using a master MIDI controller. The Hammond manual does not appear to supply the unique "Bank MSB" or "Bank LSB" numbers that my controller is asking for. Outside of trying every possible combination, I'm hoping someone can supply this to me, thereby saving my wits, hair and hours of time.

Thank you!

Steve

Bank MSB/LSB was added to the MIDI spec so that gear could have more than 128 recallable programs. Since the Hammond doesn't have more than 128, bank change messages are not applicable. Just leave them blank.

Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! And hopefully I'll have something new here this year. ;-)

I don't know if the midi implementation is different on the XK vs the SK, but the SK has the capability to send the bank changes.

Yes, the Hammond can *send* bank changes, for controlling other gear that has more than 128 patches. But the OP was asking about using another controller to send patch changes TO the organ. Since the organ doesn't have more than one bank of presets (i.e. more than 128 of them), it doesn't need bank change parameters, so it doesn't have any.

Thank you for the information. I'm going to have to dig further into my sub-menu's for a missed "switch" or incorrect "parameter", as the program change commands from my master controller has yet to be recognized by the Hammond.

I appreciate the help.
