Russkull Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 My wife found this online and thought it was hilarious: Dating a Musician by Starshine Roshell Reference material for any of you single guys and gals... "Of all the world's bassists, I'm one of them!" - Lug
Richard W Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Funny. My wife has been "dating" this bass player for 27+ years and I'd say she'd agree with much of what's in this article. "Everyone wants to change the world, but no one thinks of changing themselves." Leo Tolstoy
Bottom End Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I wish this article had been written when I was single and gigging. Good stuff. "Call me what instrument you will, though you can fret me, yet you cannot play upon me.'-Hamlet Guitar solos last 30 seconds, the bass line lasts for the whole song.
Nicklab Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Yeah. This was published FAR later than it should have been. Obligatory Social Media Link "My concern is, and I have to, uh, check with my accountant, that this might bump me into a higher, uh, tax..."
Michele C. Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I used only marginally my musical skills to date my wife. My bad. -- Michele Costabile (http://proxybar.net)
Griffinator Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 So where does a multi-instrumentalist like me fit into this equation? A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.
lug Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 So where does a multi-instrumentalist like me fit into this equation? Multi-instrumentalists are most likely to be cheaters in a relationship, everybody knows that. You can stop now -jeremyc STOP QUOTING EVERY THING I SAY!!! -Bass_god_offspring lug, you should add that statement to you signature.-Tenstrum I'm not sure any argument can top lug's. - Sweet Willie
zeronyne Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Well, I'm sure that when Starshine dated musicians, she didn't sport the soccer mom/realtor haircut. "For instance" is not proof.
Imogene Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 So where does a multi-instrumentalist like me fit into this equation? Multi-instrumentalists are most likely to be cheaters in a relationship, everybody knows that. THAT is hilarious! Nice job. Well, I'm sure that when Starshine dated musicians, she didn't sport the soccer mom/realtor haircut. Agreed. Also, Starshine may like bass players well enough, but you'd likely get a totally different take from Kristi Lee (of the Bob and Tom radio show). Her disdain for bass players is pretty well documented. I first met my wife mere moments after putting down a bass. That was over 30 years ago and I can say that the bass wasn't enough, I had to work harder than that.

5 string Mike Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 People still listen to Bob & Tom? "Political language... is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind"- George Orwell
