CEB Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 What do you think I need as proof to satisfy the IRS? Just a hand written Bill of Sale? "It doesn't have to be difficult to be cool" - Mitch Towne "A great musician can bring tears to your eyes!!! So can a auto Mechanic." - Stokes Hunt
DulceLabs.com Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Do you mean "CASH" cash, not a bank check, etc. And is it under $10,000?
CEB Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 Yes under $10,000. Paying green for a Virus TI. "It doesn't have to be difficult to be cool" - Mitch Towne "A great musician can bring tears to your eyes!!! So can a auto Mechanic." - Stokes Hunt
DulceLabs.com Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Yeah under $10,000 you don't need to do anything special. Bill of Sale is all you really need. Have fun!
Bif_ Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Am I correct in assuming you are doing this to substantiate a tax write off? If so, you may want to include the items serial number on the bill of sale. Kurzweil Forte, Yamaha Motif ES7, Muse Receptor 2 Pro Max, Neo Ventilator
GDP Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Yup, get a receipt, dated and signed by seller with serial number.....hate to be accused of theft. great synth...have fun with it!
hardware Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 There are so many new regs I would advise any musician just to get a tax pro. I have had the same guy for almost 20 years. He caught more than a few mistakes made by the feds which saved me literally thousands. Strongly advise to go quarterly and use estimated income. Give them a nice chunk on April 15th or earlier, as they like you more, then usually get a little back or just zero it out. Magnus C350 + FMR RNP + Realistic Unisphere Mic
Dave Bryce Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I've just had to delete a bunch of posts and give a forum member a 30 day vacation for taking this thread in a political direction. This is a relevant topic, so I'm leaving it up for now....but if it heads that way again, I'll delete the whole thread. dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <== Professional Affiliations: Royer Labs • Music Player Network
Dave Bryce Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Sorry Dave. My fault. I appreciate the mea culpa, but it wasn't your fault. You were responding to the person who started it....which was why you weren't banned. No worries.
