mak1457 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I'm about ready to buy a midi pedalboard. In particular I'm looking at a Roland PK5 (not "A") pedalboard. It appears to be about ten years old. Is ten years old considered "old" for this type of thing? And what's the difference between a PK5 and a PK5a? I'm not anticipating any problems with my board recognizing a "foreign" object midi'd into it. I miss kicking bass too much to go on much longer without a pedalboard. DulceLabs.com Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 It depends on how much use or abuse it got, but those pedal boards are built to withstand a lot kickin'. I assume you can check it out first to make sure it's kosher. As far as the difference between the two, I can't find anything that says they are actually different. Google a "vs" comparison and you will see what I am talking about. You can also download the manuals from the Roland site to how they differ.. again, just google it and it pops up.
Shamanczarek Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I have a PK5 I bought used in the late 90's. I have no idea when they were first introduced but it has to be around 20 years ago. They are pretty rugged but like anything that spends it's life on the floor is prone to minor cosmetic dings and picking up dirt and grime.
