Dannyalcatraz Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 ...here is a wonderfully kid-tacular performance of "Dance of the Sugarplum Faries": http://www.vex.net/rikscafe/mp3a/SugarPlumFairy.mp3 Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. Larryz Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Well, it's a start...HO! HO! HO! Take care, Larryz
whitefang Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Danny, all I got was music. A nice interpretation, but can't figure out what's "Kid-tacular" about it. If there was a video accompaniment, It didn't show for me. Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!
Caevan O'Shite Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Sounds cool! Fun and Trad-Jazzy, lots of color and character. Ask yourself- What Would Ren and Stimpy Do? ~ Caevan James-Michael Miller-O'Shite ~ _ ___ _ Leprechaun, Esquire _ ___ _
Dannyalcatraz Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 No real video exists. I eventually found a youtube vid of it, but it isn't a performance, just a slide show. It is "kid-tacular" in that many- myself included, until last night- believed it was the work of a youth group. God knows it sounds like one! But a little part of my brain said "waitaminit", so I did some sleuthing. In actuality, it was done by the Portsmouth Sinfonia. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portsmouth_Sinfonia Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. Winston Psmith Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Loved the Portsmouth Sinfonia! The idea of taking otherwise accomplished musicians, and handing them unfamiliar instruments came off somewhat better than you might think . . . and also, slightly worse. (I seem to recall seeing Brian Eno sitting in the middle of the group, holding a Clarinet?) Their version of Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra sounds as if the instruments were drunk. Dannyalcatraz Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 Oh yes, Stanley Kubrick definitely missed out: Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. Sturgeon's Revelation: âNinety percent of everything is crapâ My FLMS- Murphy's Music in Irving, Tx http://murphysmusictx.com/
