Ken Beaumont Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 That was cut & paste from a poster on gearlutz just wondering what if. MotiDave Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 yes, they are going to build a factory, re-launch production lines for ancient chips, because Dr. Dre needs one and it has to be exactly the same". I think I believe that. The baiting I do is purely for entertainment value. Please feel free to ignore it.

David Emm Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Aw, this again? Isn't the REAL #1 issue that an absolute recreation would surely cost even more than the original? It also ran extremely "warm" because of the capacitor sheet that kept it in tune. It would make no sense to go there now. Oscillator stability has pretty much been resolved, but look at the venom that splattered everyone when the JP-80 came out. I love the sound of the JP-8, but in 2014/2015, it'd still be priced out of reach for most of us, residing in Modulus02 territory. If Roland used DCOs for stability and cost containment, you'd think Godzilla had risen from one of the Great Lakes. You will almost surely never see this for the same reason there's been no new MemoryMoog. Its a great pipe dream, but grossly impractical. This place is almost as good as that cartoon where She-Hulk helps Santa Claus kick Hitler in the @$$.

allan_evett Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Zeus ? Please. Strange fiction, I suspect. And just how long are we going to endure these mythology-based names ? It'd be more fun if we had a keyboard name that gave us a long pause for thought, kind of like the Ford Probe. 'Someday, we'll look back on these days and laugh; likely a maniacal laugh from our padded cells, but a laugh nonetheless' - Mr. Boffo. We need a barfing cat emoticon!
