zephonic Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Good news! http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/cubase/whats_new.html Lots of new features, but the best news is probably this: Massive engine rebuild Cubase 8 is probably the most efficient, and fast DAW software available today. For this version we completely rebuilt the entire engine that runs Cubase to make it much faster, more fluid, more snappy. During development, we set up pretty ambitious target benchmarks, and the results speak for themselves. Large projects open up to 4 times faster, the MixConsole twice as fast. The new audio engine now also means that even the most complex instruments and plug-ins run with stunning efficiency. This allows a lot lower latency while not out-powering your computer. The previous versions of Cubase were all still powered by the original Nuendo engine, which dated back to the late 90's, I believe. local: Korg Nautilus 61 AT | Yamaha MODX8 away: GigPerformer | 16" MBP M1 Max home: Kawai RX-2 | Korg D1 | Roland Fantom X7

Steve Force Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 i installed it on my new iMac and it runs well. However, I could not get Alchemy to be recognized so I had to revert back to 7.5, at least until the softsynths catch up. Steve Force, Durham, North Carolina -------- My Professional Websites
Jim Alfredson Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 I don't see a big reason to upgrade honestly. I am extremely happy with 7.5. Keep it greazy! B3tles - Soul Jazz THEO - Prog Rock
midinut Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I don't see a big reason to upgrade honestly. I am extremely happy with 7.5. I'm with Ya Jim. Love my 7.5. Got plenty still to learn about it. I may upgrade down the road when VST support is more solid. I got other software needing upgrading or purchasing ahead of this. The U-he family for sure, on the fence on K10 (got K9U), Arturia V-Col 4 from V3. So many toys and so little time. Finals this week and I get a month off. Maybe I can play a little. Steve LeBlanc Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I want it. I bought 3 and loved using it, can't afford the upgrade from that far back yet but I'll work on it. http://www.youtube.com/notesleb
