richforman Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Really a sad one. Reduces the level of excitement and authenticity for future Rolling Stones concerts. I'm glad I got to see him with them plenty of times over the years, just his presence always added a lot. Legatoboy Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Sad, I'm 60 now and all these passings are really adding up for the baby-boomers, makes you think a bit! I liked his sax playing on all those old Stones recordings, it fit them very nicely . . . Outkaster Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Its sad and you see this thing happening more and more now. He was as close as Ian Stewart was to the Stones as much as they might have played it down in the past. "Danny, ci manchi a tutti. La E-Street Band non e' la stessa senza di te. zxcvbnm098 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Born on the same day as Keith, making it even more amazing KR is still with us considering all he has gone through. An end to an era though. Maybe the quintessential rock and roll sax player with Clarence....both now sadly gone.
Joe Muscara Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I know I saw him with the Stones, I think I saw him with Ely, too but I'm not sure if that was live or just videos. What a bummer. Thanks for all of it, Bobby. "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! Hoo hoo!" - Daffy Duck "The good news is that once you start piano you never have to worry about getting laid again. Dave Ferris Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Ran into him twice, a long, long time ago in STL. A band I was in opened for Delaney & Bonnie & Friends. He was a part of that group ( and many of the guys in that band went on to be Derek & the Dominos) and again a few years later with Dave Mason. Don't recall any conversations with him other then hi. Sorry to hear the sad news. https://soundcloud.com/dave-ferris https://www.youtube.com/@daveferris2709 2005 NY Steinway D Yamaha AvantGrand N3X, CP88, P515

George88 Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I got to play with Bobby a few times. Really nice guy with an amazing sound. Playing Brown Sugar, Can You Here Me Knockin', and Whatever Gets You Through The Night with him is a career highlight.

Doerfler Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Keith Richards on Bobby Keys everything that Keith alludes to in this article he went into depth in his autobiography. They were tight, Keith and Bobby. RIP Bobby. He would have turned 71 next week.
Joe Muscara Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Keith Richards on Bobby Keys everything that Keith alludes to in this article he went into depth in his autobiography. Yeah, I read "Life" as well. But it's nice to have all that in one place as a tribute to Bobby from Keith. "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible!
