miden Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I am having a weird issue with UVI Ravenscroft and the iLok software licencing system. I recently did a re-image of the hard drive, re-installed UVI, iLok and ran the process to re-activate (EXACTLY the same process I did on a previous install) however now, even after activating sucessfully, it continually brings up the message: "Unable to mount the volume from C:\Program Files/UVISounBanks/Ravesncroft275.ufs" No valid authorization found. iLok software tells me it IS activated and legal however UVI says not. Have any other users of this software come across this issue? Thanks There is no luck - luck is simply the confluence of circumstance and co-incidence... Time is the final arbiter for all things
PianoMan51 Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Have you contacted VILabs first? I've had two passes of emails with Arnaud at contact@vilabsaudio.com just this weekend. Great customer support.
miden Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 Yep, thanks pianoman51 I am waiting their response (sent to UVI+Pace) I didn't see it as a vilabs issue), but as it is Sunday there, I thought I would see if others here had experienced the same issue. Perhaps you should have waited for the response D-Bone before making a smart-arse comment There is no luck - luck is simply the confluence of circumstance and co-incidence... Doerfler Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I am having a weird issue with UVI Ravenscroft and the iLok software licencing system. we need a can of worms emoticon, dB. I own an iLok, am not an iLok hater but could be. These problems will never, ever, end.
chas50 Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I had to download and install an updated iLok License Manager program today. also, if you haven't already, log into your account at VI Labs and double check that your Ravenscroft is authorized there?
DulceLabs.com Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 we need a can of worms emoticon, dB. You really need to check out the for more emoticons. Thanks, already done that though. Even though I don't think its a VILabs issue I sent an email also to them as well earlier, following pianoman's advice. miden Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 well, UVI, VILabs and iLok are each saying it is not their issue (although not in those words, but the "subtext" is clear) and to contact the other one!! All that was suggested was the "usual" re-install, make sure it is the latest version blah de blah...... which were all done before contacting them. It is rather expensive software and I had hoped a little more support would have been forthcoming. There is no luck - luck is simply the confluence of circumstance and co-incidence... Gary75 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I had/have exactly the same problem only with a different library. They both blamed each other. This was 6 months ago. I gave up, a waste of time.
SK Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 "Unable to mount the volume from C:\Program Files/UVISounBanks/Ravesncroft275.ufs" Now this probably isn't the issue either, but since no company is taking responsibility, I wonder - did you use the same spelling as above? RABid Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I use my gaming computer as my backup DAW. After putting iLok on that computer, every time I would run an EA game the boot sector would corrupt and I would have to reformat the drive. Now I avoid EA and iLok. This post edited for speling. miden Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 Latest offering from iLok: "Hello, Please contact the software developer of the software you are attempting to use for further information on the use and authorization of their product. Understand that the software developers are the only ones capable of licensing their products. PACE merely builds the infrastructure for the software publishers to distribute their products in the way that is consistent with their licensing terms. I wrote back saying " but we believe it is YOUR software causing the issue" I am not expecting much of a response. BUt if I have to go and buy another license for Ravenscroft, they can go whistle! Griffinator Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Friends don't let friends iLok. A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.
chas50 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 can you try running it in a DAW? or somehow in another program?
miden Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 thanks chas (@griffinator too true!) Seems the Pace folks still have not twigged it's their software activation system here. They are still writing to me with all sorts of tips on sorting the issue with my iLok Dongle I am going to try going back to square 1, re-download all the new versions of the software (UVI and Pace) re-image the drive and start all over, and see where we are at then. Seems there may be some user error though as I forgot to de-activate before I did the last re-image. It apparently then removes a licence when the HDD is re-imaged, although that is a separate issue and one I hope I can sort with VILabs. chas50 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 best of luck. I ain't no wizard at this stuff. but, if I was trying to make this work, I would try to follow the steps at the True Keys website as best I could. good luck miden. between upgrading to the flac files yesterday, and downloading and installing some channel strip plugins that also have iLok, yesterday, and it all works, well..............I feel a little wizard-ish now. hahahahahaha
miden Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 cool, thanks chas There is no luck - luck is simply the confluence of circumstance and co-incidence... Time is the final arbiter for all things
chas50 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 right on!! played RC a little yesterday. wow! beautiful. very worth the hoops I've had to jump through to get it working.
miden Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 Well, still nothing at all from VILabs, Pace or UVI. Issue is still there and they have done not one thing apart from platitudes and information 101. All of which have been done BEFORE first contact with them. Whoever said VI Labs Tech support was good....well...maybe they had just come from the pub!!! This is getting beyond a joke now. I have just sent the third email to VI Labs in response to their question about if it is working. Not one reply yet. I send one per day. kanker. Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Perhaps you should have waited for the response D-Bone before making a smart-arse comment Having walked the streets of NYC with D-Bon more than once, I can say with complete confidence and authority that he truly should be known as D-Bone. A ROMpler is just a polyphonic turntable.
kanker. Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 (And on a related note, iLok sucks. Yes, I own a ProTools license. Yes, I have a few other iLok plugs. Quit treating me like a goddamned criminal for buying your shit, developers.) A ROMpler is just a polyphonic turntable.

Hilarious, even if you buy their shit, it's still easier to go download a cracked version than mess with their stupid security protocols. A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.

miden Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 back to the topic and away from D-Bon's pants Still getting the "it's their problem not ours" runaround from all three... I am seriously tempted to simply delete them all and look to another VSTi Piano maker. One that eschews Pace and iLok...it's a lot of money down the drain, but if I cannot get past three software developers each blaming the other then I really have no alternative. Or just go back to using True Pianos instead There is no luck - luck is simply the confluence of circumstance and co-incidence... Time is the final arbiter for all things
