I scored on a couple of tickets to see Fleetwood Mac on the 24th in Sacramento, Ca. Will let you guys know how it comes out. They will have the old line up on stage: Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mike Fleetwood, John McVie and Christine McVie...they are getting up there in age (70's maybe ???). I don't know how they can stay young enough to hit so many engagements on their latest tour...hoping it's a good concert and I'm really looking forward to it!

I think of that as the new line up. The old lineup would have Peter Green.

How true! Peter is credited as being the founder of Fleetwood Mac...I was referring more to Christine McVie who had left the band for awhile and is now back on tour. It would be great to have Peter still with them too...

Ps. the last thing I saw on Peter Green on Wiki, is he's 68 and still around but he left Fleetwood Mac band back in 1970...

And occasionally playing the blues club circuit.

I hope Black Magic Woman is still in his set list...

Was never really big on the "post Green" Fleetwood Mac era.

They might have done a couple-few songs I thought were all right, but it was mostly NICKS that I didn't care for much...

Most of their hits were "post Green" who had left the band in 1970, beginning in 1975 when they hit the mainstream with songs like: Go Your Own Way, Dreams, Over My Head, Say You Love Me, Big Love, Little Lies, Don't Stop, Tusk, You Make Loven Fun, Hold Me, Sara, Riannon, Landslide, etc...

An earlier lineup would have included Bob Welch.

That's just one of many versions. He came after what I feel was the 'classic' Fleetwood Mac line up with Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer & Danny Kirwan on guitars.

Having a lot of songs that were "hits" doesn't actually mean the music was good.

A hit means he recording sold a lot of copies, or got a lot of requests. Lest we forget:

"Gilligan's Island" was a "hit" TV show. George W. Bush got re-elected. Millions of people bought "pet rocks".

This all means that "the People's Choice" award is a dubious honor at best, and what constitutes a "hit" song a questionable thing.

But, if you liked that perod of Mac's history, then you should enjoy the concert. So go and have a good time!

The house is pretty much sold out at $200 a pop for standard venue seats, so I guess there are others that like them. I'm really doing it for my wife on our 42 anniversary who really loves them. I dig a few of their songs like Riannon and Landslide, Go Your Own Way, Say You Love Me, etc. Recognized Billboard Hits with lots of sales and sold out concerts, usually indicates that a lot of people besides me think their music is good...I hope to have a good time...

I'd also like to pass on congratulations on your 42nd wedding anniversary.

In these days, when many marriages don't even seem to last 42 DAYS, that many years deserves note.

Thanks Fang...I don't know how she has put up with me so long???

We were just talking about the upcoming concert last night and I learned that my daughter went to see Fleetwood Mac back in 2002. She said it was the best concert she's ever attended. It dawned on me this morning that may be the reason she picked Landslide for the father/daughter dance when she got married back in 2004...It's cool when music bridges the generation gap!

Saw Fleetwood Mac at the Fillmore East, back in the Summer of 1970. Christine McVie was still recording with her own band, Chicken Shack, which was under a different label, I guess, but she was touring with them, playing her one hit at the time, Wild About You, Baby, a straight-up Blues/Rock tune. As you might imagine, they sounded NOTHING like the band that everyone would come to know as Fleetwood Mac, in six or seven years. FWIW, they weren't even the headline act that night; Fleetwood Mac and Fairport Convention (yeah, really) were opening for Savoy Brown!?!?! Different times . . .

Lindsey Buckingham is quite a showman/character... I'd love to catch them on this tour.

He did his solo tour stop here at a theater my buddies run and I couldn't make it, but they said he was as loud, solo acoustic, as most metal bands...

here's his solo backline:

It was great or aptly described as excellent!!! Many well deserved standing O's...If you like their music even just a little bit, I highly recommend you go see them if they should come to your area. They had just returned from their Canada concert. Christine McVie was well received by the FM fans. She's been away for 16 years and is now back! All of them were excellent...

I couldn't believe how great a guitar player Lindsey Buckingham is...you just have to see him play live to understand my newfound respect and admiration for his playing...his acoustic nylon solo song was just unbelievable! We had a screen right in front of our box seats with close ups of his fretboards and finger style playing which left me mesmerized! :2thu:

I agree- Buckingham is a great player. He is (or at least used to be) a pretty good singer too.

I remember several years ago seeing him on 'crossroads' with 'Little Big Town" and he sounded great. He sang their song 'boondocks' and nailed it.

The thing I like about FM is everyone kind of had their turn in the sun- Buckingham had some pretty good songs, Christine wrote a lot of the catchy pop tunes and Nicks had the melancholy moody stuff, and it had some broad appeal. Their harmonies were awesome as well.

Plus they had the band drama with the affairs, divorces, coke benders, all that stuff people eat up. And add to that now they've all buried the axe and reunited for a big tour, plus the drama with that.
