HAMEGZ Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Kurzweil Artis SE - we have a picture. We got to the first image Kurzweil Artis SE. Too many do not know about it. The keyboard of this instrument has a 88-key. He obtained zgrabniejsze form, and was deprived of the side buttons to select which categories of sounds. The remaining 4 potentiometers and external controllers for EQ. It is known that it will have 128 voices of polyphony and 256 sounds and pianos from the model Artis with KB3 sounds. We do not know his weight and has been stripped of features, or sounds. Dana. Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 More confusion... Is this an "Artis lite"? Replacement for the SP4-8? TP100?
Rusty Mike Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Looks like a replacement/upgrade for the SP-5. I like the form factor, with the wheels above the keyboard. Now we need to know other important stuff, like which action, weight, cost, ability, etc., etc. .
GDP Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Boy, they sure do shy away from large displays.....all that real estate and a tiny display.
Daddyg3042 Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Boy, they sure do shy away from large displays.....all that real estate and a tiny display. When you look at it through the bottom of your bifocals...it looks slightly bigger. "May you stay...forever young."
Brettymike Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Boy, they sure do shy away from large displays.....all that real estate and a tiny display. Can't go selling too many , they would be run off their feet trying to cope with orders . IMHO if they made the screen bigger - with nothing extra on it - sales would jump out of control. Brett
AnotherScott Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 It seems that the Artis SE is a budget version of the Artis. If they were looking for the ways they could lower the price, I don't think I'd expect a large display. Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! And hopefully I'll have something new here this year. ;-)
The Piano Man Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Guessing this will be competing with the Casio PX5s. The plastic construction will probably take the weight down to around 15kg or so, assuming it's the tp100 action. I wonder how keen they'll get the price. Would be great to get more info on this one from Kurz but nothing on the website yet... Kurzweil PC3x Technics SX-P50 Korg X3
Rusty Mike Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 If those 3 knobs next to the volume slider are for the EQ, then it looks like they use a fixed mid frequency in place of the parametric. That's a bummer, unless there's another way to adjust the frequency. .

vonnor Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 This has 12 keys too many. Any hope for a Artis7se? Gear: Hardware: Nord Stage4, Korg Kronos 2, Novation Summit Software: Cantabile 3, Halion Sonic 3 and assorted VST plug-ins.

Dana. Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Life is full of compromise, fellas. I think it's a safe bet that there will be a replacement for the SP4-7 at some point that will have the Artis piano.

Indeed... http://kurzweil.com/product/artis7/ I think the wait for a 76 key with hammer action will go on for some time yet though, unless you want a Kronos 73 or Nord 73 Kurzweil PC3x Technics SX-P50 Korg X3

Only waterfall, semiweighted keys are limited to 73 note F to F. However - if you want a tight form factor, 76 note hammer action keyboard the Viscount Physis K5 might be perfect. http://www.thomann.de/gb/physis_piano_k5_ex.htm Too much stuff, too little time, too few gigs, should spend more time practicing...! 🙄 main instruments: Nord Stage 3 compact, Yamaha CP88, Kurzweil PC4, Viscount KeyB Legend Live

As AnotherScott pointed out, there are a few 73 key Nords with hammer action. There is also the 76 ones, eg Nord Stage 2 76 Kurzweil PC3x Technics SX-P50 Korg X3
Tobias Åslund Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Sorry - I was sure that the HP models were 76 note as well, but they're really 73 note E-E, Fatar TP100. Dana. Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Info is now up on the Kurzweil site. Unfortunately, the action is TP100. 39 lbs. http://kurzweil.com/product/artis-se/overview/
The Piano Man Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Interestingly, the specs say "internal power supply" but the back panel image suggests otherwise! Kurzweil PC3x Technics SX-P50 Korg X3
HAMEGZ Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Interestingly, the specs say "internal power supply" but the back panel image suggests otherwise! that seems correct from the manual The DC Power Adapter Use the provided DC power adapter to connect the Artis SE to a standard AC power source. Please refer to Step 3 on page GS-4 above SpaceStation V3, MoxF6,PX5S,Hammond-SK2,Artis7,Stage2-73, KronosX-73,MS Pro145,Ventilator,OB DB1,Lester K Toys: RIP died in the flood of 8/16 1930 Hammond AV, 1970s Leslie 145, 1974 Rhodes Stage
The Piano Man Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 So the spec sheet is wrong. That's a shame. 17.5kg is pretty heavy for a tp100 action and an external power adaptor. Kurzweil PC3x Technics SX-P50 Korg X3
Rusty Mike Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 The TP100 is not really a shocker to me. That seems to be their go-to action for their midrange line. The Kurz boards have always been heavier than the competition as well. The more significant compromises are the microscopic display from the SP-4 series and the lack of parametric mid on the EQ. Price, of course, is still the big variable here. .

Price, of course, is still the big variable here. I guess the question is, if you wanted to make a lower cost version of the Artis 88, what would you cut instead? But yes, I'm assuming price will be substantially less than the full Artis. Though it would have been interesting to see it come in at a lower weight and 73 keys, too.
