Steve Nathan Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Sorry to ask this here, but I don't have much time for hunting through the mountain of unhelpful gibberish that comes up when you try to get Google to find this. I need to help an old friend today, and want to connect his much older Macbook to my MBP so I can run some maintenance on his from mine. With FW, I know you just connect the cable, start the MBP, then start the MB while holding down the "T". Does this also work, or is there a similar procedure using USB? You geniuses have gotten me out of jams before, and I couldn't think of a better place to ask for help. Don't rush me. Steve Nathan Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 Further study reminds me that this is called "Target Disk Mode", and may not be an option with USB. Don't rush me. Ken Beaumont Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Its not an option with usb. Only firewire or thunderbolt. update: You might try Apple Remote Desktop Boards: Kurzweil SP-6, Roland FA-08, VR-09, DeepMind 12 Modules: Korg Radias, Roland D-05, Bk7-m & Sonic Cell
Steve Nathan Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 Good news (for me). Turns out his MB has FW. He is not "savvy" at all, and didn't actually know what FW was, let alone that his MB had it. Thanks Don't rush me.
