CEB Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Anyone know what Physis means by 76 Lightweighted Hammer action keys? Is the semi-weighted or a balanced action similar to a S70XS? CEB Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 Here is the weighted 88 K4. Robert gives a walkthrough of the controller layout. NakedPiano Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 The Physis K5 uses a Fatar TP100 key action (with 3 sensors). This is a lighter feel than the TP40 found in the K4 model which is why it's described as "Lightweight Hammer"... Hope this helps! Kind regards,
Dave Weiser Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 I'm going to visit their R&D in December, doing some consulting work for them. I'll be sure to check out the various actions and take notes. Very interested to play the K4 and K5 and try them out driving both external synths and software instruments. https://www.theboywhowantedtorock.com http://www.weisersound.com https://www.facebook.com/weisersound

Tobias Åslund Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Lightweighted in this case most probably refers to the weight of the entire keybed, not the weight needed to push down a key. I would not agree that TP100 has a lighter feel than the TP40 - it's just different, and the TP100 has a bit shallower key travel. So then I would also guess that there is quite a weight difference between the K4 and the K5. Too much stuff, too little time, too few gigs, should spend more time practicing...! 🙄 main instruments: Nord Stage 3 compact, Yamaha CP88, Kurzweil PC4, Viscount KeyB Legend Live
marino Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 If I'm not mistaken, the TP100 is the same keybed used in Studiologic's Acuna 73 and the Kurzweil SP4-8, and it's hammer action. Not precise and realistic as the TP40, but quite pleasant to play, especially live; it's not fatiguing even after several hours of playing. I'm not sure if I would do my piano technique on it, as it's a bit light - but it's not one of those "semi-weighted" abominations, like the SP4-7 for example. I find it quite playable.
stoken6 Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Yup, and also in the Nord Electro/Piano HP, Studiologic Numa Stage and Kurz Artis AFAIK. Discussed here many, many times. Some love it, some hate it, I'm keen to try it... Cheers, Mike.
RABid Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Interesting. Nice controller for a rack full of modules. Wish there was an option for a stick instead of wheels. This post edited for speling. My Sweetwater Gear Exchange Page
mauriziodececco Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Out of curiosity, where is their R&D lab ? Yes, in Italy, but in which town ? I read somewhere that their piano was done in Ancona (my original home town); it would be a sweet way to remember the old glory of the town (Farfisa, CRB, Crumar, etc ...) Maurizio Nord Wave 2, Nord Electro 6D 61,, Rameau upright, Hammond Pro44H Melodica. Too many Arturia, NI and AAS plugins http://www.barbogio.org/ https://barbogio.bandcamp.com/follow_me
