whitefang Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 It reminds me of a story I heard credited to ANDRES SEGOVIA, who when asked what "it's like to be the world's greatest guitarist?" Supposedly replied, "You'd better ask HIM. I'M still LEARNING." GOTTA love those guys....If THEY can remain humble, it's a GREAT lesson for the REST of us. Of course, I have NO problem with that, given my level of play, but I do know or have known many over the years who could have used such lessons. Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!
Larryz Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 A great musical lesson in the humble pie theory that applies to all muscians... Take care, Larryz
Fred_C Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 I have to comment on this thread. I am a musician. I take the study of music and guitar very seriously. That's what first made me gravitate toward Jazz Guitar. It is an art form and a discipline. I've been playing Jazz for about 16 years now and have taken about three years of formal lessons from two different teachers. I am just beginning to understand how it all fits together and that's just one style-Chord Melody. I haven't even put much effort at all into single note Jazz improvisation as yet. That's probably going to take another 10-15 years. It is a source of great joy to me and a topic I can study for the rest of my life and never, ever run out of things to learn!!! If you play cool, you are cool.
Larryz Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Thanks Fred! Glad to hear from you again..."well said, and well written." Take care, Larryz

It all blurs into one internet scramble. But I like seeing the quote make the rounds every year attached to a new pic or something.
