whitefang Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 To any in this forum whom may be military veterans I'd like to take this time to thank you each for your service, and maybe a little time aside to wish MARSHALL CRENSHAW a happy birthday. Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!
Larryz Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Thanks Fang, On Behalf of my fellow Veterans...but, I wish you had linked the "aside" birthday wishes with General George Patton! Happy Veterans Day to all our Veterans out there! Take care, Larryz
Caevan O'Shite Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Hats-off, and then some. I was acquainted with one individual whose many outstanding accomplishments of selfless heroism during service in wartime, some small, some large, saved lives and made the difference between victory and defeat. I'd call him "Mr. Tarbell", and he'd reply with a smile and a hand on my shoulder, "Albert, just Albert." I myself am Prior-Service, having put in 8 years- six Active, two Inactive/"on call"- with the USAR. I don't generally think of myself as a "Veteran", reserving that distinction for those I feel better deserve the honor, but I keep getting told that I am; if that's what real Veterans think, then so be it, I'll just shut up and shake hands, perhaps smiling and saying, "Kevin, just Kevin". Dannyalcatraz Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 My dad was an Army MD and I have many other relatives and friends who were or are servicemen in our armed forces- mostly Army. So for me, it doesn't matter, peacetime or wartime: if you serve(d), you have helped make and maintain this country and sacrificed much that most people will never understand. And that is worth saluting. Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. Sturgeon's Revelation: âNinety percent of everything is crapâ My FLMS- Murphy's Music in Irving, Tx http://murphysmusictx.com/

p90jr Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Thanks, Vets! Happy Birthday Marshall Crenshaw, one of my faves. and Happy Birthday Kurt Vonnegut. Thanks for the stories.
SEHpicker Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 If not for our Veterans we would probably not have a forum such as this. We owe much to those who serve. THANK YOU VETERANS!!! SEHpicker The further a society drifts from truth the more it will hate those who speak it." George Orwell
whitefang Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 Well, ONE old friend of mine, who was in the marines during the Viet Nam era, spent most of HIS hitch in Okinawa getting either high, or syphilis. He never DID get to'Nam, But I sent him a "thank you" e-mail anyway... Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!
