AlanV Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I don't know how many more shows they have in the states, but I caught them on Friday at the Ardmore Music Hall just outside of Philly. I haven't been this floored by a show in a long time. Opening act The Heard is horn-driven funk out of Chicago with a killer young keyboardist that played a B3 and Clav D6 with one of the whammy bar kits. The New Mastersounds just blew the doors off the joint. Joe was running a B3 and used a Nord Electro 3 for piano and EP sounds, along with the real D6 borrowed from the first band. Seriously, if they're playing local to anyone, I highly suggest you clear your schedule to check them out. Hell, I'm still dancing in my mind to their grooves. Nord Stage 2 SW73, Kurzweil PC3LE7, Moog Sub 37, Alesis Ion, Rhodes Stage 73, Moog Werkstatt-01, Yamaha CP-300 ------------- Knock knock Who's there? Interrupting synthesizer Interrup-MOOOOOOOOOG

Doerfler Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Seriously, if they're playing local to anyone, I highly suggest you clear your schedule to check them out. they were in DC early September. I hadn't heard of them yet. next time, hopefully
Doc Tonewheel Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I wanted to see them, but I was at the String Cheese Incident concert at the Tower. They were awesome! Kyle was rocking his usual rig: B3 with Clavinet D6 on top, Yamaha S90, Rhodes, Access Virus TI, and I think a Roland Gaia.
stoken6 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Hey, thanks for posting! I went to a jazz club for my Stag party (=Bachelor party over the pond) and they happened to be playing. Very cool. Although am I the only one who thinks "The New Mastersounds" is a lousy name for a band? Cheers, Mike
AlanV Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 Doc, they had a shuttle special. $30 got you a ticket for the STI show at the Tower, a bus ride to the Ardmore Music Hall for the NMS second set "After Party", and then a ride back to the Tower. AlanV Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 They actually called out people who did it. There were only 3 of them. If you've never been, check out the venue. Ardmore Music Hall is one of the best rock and roll clubs I've been to. Good sized bar, great stage and sound, small seating area with a view of the stage, and damn reasonable. Very happy it's only 20 minutes away from me and gets some great acts.
