endlessummerkeys
Did the Casino gig last night 85DB max for FOH regulations as I expected the sound man was perplexed and my keys came out great. No feed to FOH and I still got out there fine. stage sound was awesome especially the stereo strings. I used the sub and also did Aspens recommendation on the plexiglass to create a wall since I did not have a wall to use and it reflected the side speaker very nicely Quote Nord Stage 2 88 Korg M50 Korg KINGKORG SPACESTATION V.3 Behringer Eurolive B-1200D PRO Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee www.endlesssummertheband.com

cedar
So my unit actually arrived today. It is more compact than I expected, which is great. Now I'm wondering how best to evaluate the sound, either at home or in rehearsal. I believe Aspen recommended using the keyboard's "demo," so that one can walk around, listen and tinker with the settings. I have a CP4 and Hammond xk1c. As far as I know, neither has a prerecorded demo. Should I just create an audio file of various keyboard sounds so that I can play them and listen while I walk away from the keyboard? Or maybe I should just try to set it up a decent distance away from me and assume that will be pretty representative of the sound others will hear? theGman
Ref a demo, I bought one of those splitters, headphone jack to L and R 1/4 inch females, so I can use a portable CD player. Figure it's not bad to have that cable around anyway (pretty cheap)
RoyceM
At a NAMM show in past, I had the same "offending side speaker" issues with exhibitors on either side of me. So, I fashioned a simple hinged "V" corner out of two panels of plexiglass (but 1/2" Plywood would be better in a club..and stronger for travel). These hinged "corner panels" only need to measure 1' high (if you are on the floor, maybe higher if on a sub), and perhaps 3' long. Then just attach some hinges, fold it flat, and bring it along to the gig in your trunk (they lay flat and take up almost no room). It's cheap insurance in case you are stuck "out in the open" again. You may actually find yourself using them all the time. I REALLY like the what they do; kinda makes a poor man's Klipsch Horn out of the SS! For compactness and portability, what would be the smallest effectual dimension? Perhaps as more members get hands-on experience this will become evident. (Obviously, my SS3 hasn't arrived yet.) - RoyceM
Aspen
Hey Aspen - Did you receive your Behringer sub? Impressions? Hey B. J. Yes, I did and gave initial impression is that it is very good. I have not tried the pass thru signal chain yet so I was holding off on any formal review until I have tried it that way. So far, I just drove it out of the SS sub with my usual test tracks and it was quite impressive, seems a good fit for the SS and for that money quite a batgain! Thanks for the tip. TomKittel
Yesterday I had an unpleasant experience with my Spacestation at a gig. During the sound check all worked well. It sounded great again. But soon after the show started the Spacestation lacked power. It turned out to be a blown fuse. It may sound silly but in 25 years I didn't have a single blown fuse at any instrument or amp. Of course I didn't have a spare fuse! I never ever even thought about carrying spare fuses. It was somewhat disappointing that the fuse box in the SSV3 provides a holder for a spare but it was empty. I really wish a spare fuse would be included out of the box. An electrician who attended the show said that the blown 1.6A fuse seems to be a little weak for a 280 watts amp. After we were able to pull a 4A fuse out of a fog machine I was able to finish the show. My recommendation to all Spacestation owners: make sure you have spare fuses in your bag! And you might want to use a higher ampereage than the one supplied. Quote LIFE IS SHORT, GO GET THE GEAR YOU WANT ;-)
M_G
FEB SHIPMENT UPDATE: Our vessel arrived Port of LA Feb 9, and my agent has already cleared customs. Now he is waiting for the container to be off loaded from the ship. I will keep you posted. A 230v SS OWNER UPDATE: For those many of you living in a 220-240v country who have bought SS v.3 from me or SW over the last several months, we have an updated service recommendation regarding the fuse value. It seems the formally recommended 1.6a slo blo fuse can "pop" on "turn on" due to the high voltage surge that is a characteristic of our Triodal power transformer. This was a "hard way" learning experience for a few of you (whom have now been sorted out) and so far has only happened in Australia and New Zealand. But it could also happen in Europe, so to be on the safe side, I am posting this here to be sure you all have been notified. The solution is very simple, replace the 1.6 amp fuse with a 2 amp Slo-Blo (NOTE: that is a fuse labeled a "T2A" fuse (50mmx5mm). So even if this has not happened yet to you yet, and may never happen, we recommend you upgrade to the T2A fuse to be on the safe side. There is no change to the fuse specification on the 120v units. Hi Thomas, maybe you missed this message. Aspen recommended to replace the 1.6A to a 2A in 230V models! Also, hau ne träge 2A rein und dann sollte es nicht mehr passieren. 4A ist vielleicht ein bisschenzuviel des guten.... Ich muss auch noch tauschen, bisher hat die 1.6 gehalten, aber irgendwann passierts! ;-) Gruss Markus Quote Studio: Hammond XK5-XLK5, Roland Fantom 8, Prophet 5, Roland SE02, Neo Vent, HX3-Expander, Yamaha Montage M7 Live: Yamaha CP88, Hammond SKX Pro, Hammond XB2-HX3, Roland Fantom 07, Roland SA1000, Neo Vent

The fuse sits between the power jack and the power switch. It's the same at all models, 115V and 230V. The socket can be levered out with a small screwdriver. 16251
I played first gig with SS. Now I'm listening back to the recording I made and what stands out is the fullness to the piano in the space of the room; like a real acoustic piano. The stereo vibrato also sounded better than any other recording I've ever made live. What can I say. An SS is not just another amp. It's like the Tesla of the amp world and Aspen, my friend Mark bought one right after hearing mine and corresponded with you. It's nice to help you. Frankly, I have been struggling to make stereo recordings of CPS live. They sound OK, but really never seem to do it justice. I have been using a M/S stereo pair, my own tube mics GT67 (S) + GT44 (M). Then these go thru my tube GT ViPRE preamps driving both PT 10 direct and also a GT Made MS encoder (so 4 channels to mix). All my videos on line used this method, but still it is not really as powerful as "being there". I think many have commented they can not really "hear it"...sadly. May I ask how you made your recordings? I mean, gear wise and signal chain (even if it was a handy cam, which can sound pretty good too). And if you don't mind sharing, maybe post it up here and/or just or send me a clip? dsetto
16251, that's great news. Did you simply play a CP4 stereo AP sound, keeping the panning as it comes stock, panned hard left & right, presumably? Aspen, I wonder if something like a Zoom H4n would satisfyingly capture the SSv3's stereo output in a room. When I set this amidst a group of mellow musicians rehearsing, I always enjoy the sense of space it captures. If I were to attempt to use my zoom to capture a DP out of an SSv3, amidst an intimate band setting, I'd place the zoom within 2-3 ft of the SSv3 (treating it as a piano), but having either one or no mics facing the SSv3 (piano). I used a Zoom Q3HD, shooting around 20 feet from piano. The room is actually a lobby, closed in by curtains. I was able to face side speaker facing a corner that had a wood surface. Let me be clear that it's not a clear high notes coming from the right, low from left kind of stereo. An acoustic piano doesn't sound like that either. It's just a blend I noticed. The acoustic bass had no amplification, nor the drums. I will actually post it tonight once I compress it for youTube. I also have a EP example I think, I have to re-listen and see if I want to share, if my playing doesn't sound too bad Quote AvantGrand N2 | ES520 | Gallien-Krueger MK & MP | https://soundcloud.com/pete36251
