d halfnote
Just read abt these cats Chromeo in the NYT & went to check them out, via YTube. So far their tracks impress less than this collab with Darryl Hall on an interesting revamp of the snoozy-smooth "No Can Do (I Can't Go For That)". As I watched, tryna figure out why they had bassist TBone Wolk, specially dressed for the occasion as Mr Greenjeans, vamping on ac gtr through all the electonic stew, he showed me at 3:30 into the track by ripping a cool/hot (take yer [pun alert] pick ) solo ! Who knew he could do that ?! He returns near the end with some quasi-Wes stuff, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-OZOjINrF8 d=halfnote
Russkull
This was a lot of fun. Love the background vox. And is that Mr. Ed Friedland on bass? (I don't think so, but there is a passing resemblance...) jeremy c
Looks like a younger version of Ed. Great performance all around. That must of been one of T-Bone's last performances before his untimely death. Free download of my cd!.

jcadmus
Slightly OT -- I got to see Hall and Oates in the early 80s, when T-Bone Wolk and GE Smith were in the band. Killer. Slightly more OT -- Darryl bought a nightclub in Pawling, NY -- just over the hill from me -- called the Town Crier. He's remodeling it and renaming it Darryl's Place. Plan is to use it as a venue for his Palladia show, I believe. "Tours widely in the southwestern tip of Kentucky"
