Bottom End
I decided to post videos of currently performing blues and R&B acts with solid grooves. Most of the time the bass player is not doing anything more than holding it down and playing in the pocket, but doing it well. Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears: [video:youtube] "Call me what instrument you will, though you can fret me, yet you cannot play upon me.'-Hamlet Guitar solos last 30 seconds, the bass line lasts for the whole song. Bottom End
JJ Grey & Mofro. an artist that made a big impression on me; when I heard a song of theirs on NPR, I immediately went out and bought the album. Bottom End
OK, more pop than blues, but apparently these girls can actually play and don't need autotune, I dig the little bass riff in the second verse [video:youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzo8ky-gvd4 And the bass drives this song, though I can't seem to link the video Clink "Forever" [video:youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RckbgLCn1CI#t=47 "Call me what instrument you will, though you can fret me, yet you cannot play upon me.'-Hamlet Guitar solos last 30 seconds, the bass line lasts for the whole song.
