Hi Gents,

Did anyone see Austin City Limits last night?

Since I don't listen to much contemporary music (still doing my Jazz/Blues thing) I don't remember what the players name was, but he was playing a semi-hollow single cut (with one F hole), blonde LP shape that really looked and sounded great. The axe had an upper case "D" on the headstock.

Do any of you gents know what brand of guitar this might be?

Thanks.

If you play cool, you are cool.

I didn't see it, but what you describe says "Deusenberg" to me.

Scott's probably right.

EDIT: Whoops- just noticed that you did specify that it was a BLOND guitar...

Is this the guy, and the guitar?

OK, I think I've got it now. :D

Apparently Jason Isbell was on a broadcast of ACL the other night, and he played a gold-top Duesenberg Starplayer TV.

Duesenbergs are freakin amazing guitars, I have been fortunate to have several sitdown sessions with them. The styling is not like music I would usually play but it doesn`t matter. Three minutes after picking them up I`m not even noticing it, I would take one in a second.

Same old surprises, brand new cliches-

I saw the same episode Saturday night, which also featured my girl Neko Case :D.

But I digress...

I checked out that beautiful Duesenberg, and it will set you back around $2600.00 depending on who's selling it.

Well, that's not out of line with many other instruments on the market.

I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!

Hey Skip,

What styles do you think would be most appropriate for these guitars?

I'm not Skip, but looking at the list, they look pretty versatile.

Fred I think any music would sound great on those guitars but to me they scream vintage-classic Cadillac, 50s sci-fi looks. The thing is, they are built to very modern rock solid spec, I think one would not have to play through a bunch to find `the one`. I think the first time I played one, from the looks I was expecting a loose, handmade `oh, it`s about on spec, give or take` feel-not at all.
