The new Moonchild hit today, and it's pretty exquisite. If you love Jazzy, Rhodesy, Neo-Soul, this one is for you.

Ok, it's that time.

It's May, and I've finally found what I feel is the breakout record of 2014.

Jarrod Lawson's debut LP has it all. Meticulous grooves, ah-MAZ-ing vocals, complex chord structures, great Jazz piano and a deep, inspired message. The album is clearly a labor of love for this fantastic new artist and receives my whole-hearted recommendation.

Preview it on Spotify, but BUY it on Amazon. Please support Jarrod's phenomenal talent.

Chromeo's "White Women" just came out! Listening to the non-singles for the first time now.

It was decent, but a little watered down this time around. I love these guys, but I was a little disappointed.

To be honest, I think Fancy Footwork is just too hard to top. I love Business Casual and White Women, but I think they wrote their two best songs ever on that album (Fancy Footwork and Bonafied Lovin'). Everything since has just been trying to reach that peak again.

But I can't blame them for that, and I still do enjoy the new stuff. There are some phat grooves on this one.

If you're a fan of Robert Glasper, check out the new one from Daniel Crawford. Great guest appearance from Vikter Duplaix, Amp Fiddler, Cleveland Jones and more!

This album was funded two years ago, but it finally shipped to us Kickstarter supporters yesterday and will officially come out next month. I have it on repeat.

Here's one track, with a little extra for fun.

"I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! Hoo hoo!" - Daffy Duck

"The good news is that once you start piano you never have to worry about getting laid again. More time to practice!" - MOI

Just spent a bunch of time listening to the new Chromeo while on the road. Musically speaking, it sounds great. The production is top, and the sounds are top, but I find the songs they created from those elements a little lackluster. The song with Solange is pretty good.

+1

I prefer the B-Sides on the album. Jealous is really strong and obviously the real radio single. Over Your Shoulder is great too, and I enjoy Toro Y Moi's contributions. But I find the real dirty stuff is on the back half. Old 45's is probably my favourite.

Damn, still need to get into Mingo Fishtrap. Guh.

Also, the new Lil John Roberts records is some serious shit. There isn't a preview stream available, but I highly recommend checking it on Spotify and then buying it on iTunes.

Here is SoulTracks.com's review of it.
