I will delve in tomorrow or Saturday and report back.

Since I use mostly 3 rd party instruments and plugs, I think am going to have to figure out, if possible, how to create smart controls for those in Mainstage.

Also...will need to either create a script that boots into an Ad Hoc network, or see if I can connect through bluetooth.

Anybody have any experiences to report?

The Ad Hoc (Midi-Wifi) network works well for me. Am able to do some programming but not the whole workflow from my Ipad. It would be nice if the remote could function as a MIDI control surface to move the knobs and sliders you have programmed.

Am I doing something incorrectly?

(Perhaps in the next version.)

It's cool, and gives you access to the mixer and patch changes on your iPad, but what I was really hoping for was the ability to tweak plugin parameters. You have access to Smart Controls if you use Logic plugs/patches, but not third party ones.

In Logic, you can program your own Smart Controls, but I don't think you can in Mainstage. What I haven't yet tried is programming a patch with smart controls in Logic, and then opening that patch in Mainstage to see if the Smart Controls show up. I will do so when time allows.

OK, I gleaned from another thread how to set up smart controls for 3 rd party plugs. All peachy.

But I am having disconnection problems galore. Anybody experience this and figure out a fix?

For the record I have connected both via ad hoc network and through Bluetooth with similar results.

Tusker, if you want to get your hands on the screen controls you created in MainStage you can use a screen sharing app on your iPad but be warned there is a much greater amount of latency with that kind of app than there is with Logic Remote.

Also for anyone else reading this thread there is a lot of useful information on this subject being shared in this thread. https://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/2565215/gonew/1/Custom_display_patch_selection#UNREAD

Sadly, cannot get this to work well, at a time where I could really incorporate it.

Disconnects constantly....actually causes Mainstage to crash as well.

So the wireless connection between ipad and mac has disconnect issues and mainstage crash issues?

Thanks sounds very unlike my experiences. Disconnect yes but ms crash no.

Are both devices on the same LAN of are you making an ad hoc network iPad straight to mac?

For disconnect issues have you tried Bluetooth instead of wifi?
