Aidan
Glad to hear Horace is apparently OK and eating breakfast. Seems his father will have to wait a while longer for a personal rendition of that tune! Joe Muscara
Never got to see him live. Neither did I, but I'm glad I have gotten to hear his music. A great contribution to the genre. SK
Saw his band and met him when I was 19 at a club in NYC. His band at the time included a young, hardly known sax player, Mike Brecker, and Bob Moses on drums. Horace seemed to be a really nice guy. frogmonkey
Agreed: "Peace" is a beautiful tune. I was recently studying his solo on that one, and I learned an important lesson from the simplicity of his voicings.

ADino
Horace is OK? Wow, how does a story like this get so bent in this age of technology? Im a tad embarrASSed. But, what I said about him stands and Im very happy to see him still around. And since we have a Horace thread, lets continue it to honor the man..ya gotta go thru a Horace period, he's only been outdone for bringing up new talent by Art Blakey. Opus de Funk...do it up, its in one of the Cher books.
