Meshell Ndegeocello's new album, and first for Blue Note, The Omnichord Real Book. I've been a fan since her first album, and this may be among her best albums. I've played this like 5 times in the past 24 hours, and I'm still hearing more to it. As I understand it, these tunes were written on the Omnichord, and I can hear it in the mix, but she has, as always, killer players from the new jazz/R&B worlds filling out the tracks, including Jason Moran, Brandee Younger and Cory Henry. Beautiful stuff.

This tune in particular just slays me. Jeff Parker of Tortoise on guitar, bonus points for the keyboardist wearing the Magma T-shirt.

I just missed going to see this and so will probably never see them live. Thanks for rubbing it in. :classic_angry:

:classic_rolleyes:

Anyway

Listening to Brian Hughes, a jazz guitarist. I call him "Pat Metheny Lite" - has a similar sound and IMO is quite good, but has a bit more of a "smooth jazz" blend (but not in a nauseating Kenny G kind of way).

CHOCTAW BINGO ~ James McMurtry

NSFW once or twice, but still a rousin' keeper. A slightly different view of life. 8 minutes +.

Some of my own pieces, notably improved by running them through Musik Hacks's Master Plan. Its a subtle plug, but it brings the polish & the cream.

A demonstration of the Trigon-6 by Jexus, who is one of the more outstanding sound designers. If you're considering a synth, see if he's done a demo. He creates very LARGE tapestries of any instrument's capabilities.
