TrapperJack
An iconic keyboard, the Hammond has one of the most prized and unique set of sounds known. Many musicians keep the original beasts alive, but most want to keep connected to modern keys, synths, in particular. Can one of the nine contacts under the keys be used to trigger midi signals? Are there players who have tone wheel Hammonds who have modified their instruments so that they can play a synth module from the Hammond keyboard? eric
Yes, it has been done. I believe Chuck Leavell still uses the lower manual of his Hammond as a MIDI controller.
OB Dave
You can also put a MIDI9 PNOScan in a Hammond keyboard and get full velocity, but it's a big job.
Outkaster
Yes, it has been done. I believe Chuck Leavell still uses the lower manual of his Hammond as a MIDI controller. Yes I think Goff Organ Service did that in 1989 or the 1990's or something. "Danny, ci manchi a tutti. La E-Street Band non e' la stessa senza di te. Tusker
John Novello (Niacin) also has one of his B3s modified to send midi. Not sure where he got it done.
WesG
PNOScan is pretty cool, Ken Rich is doing them. http://sebion.wordpress.com/ (epick) looks pretty promising, too.
