Winston Psmith
Traded in a bunch of pedals today, for a used black Godin Freeway SA, and man, what an amazing guitar! Lightweight, low action, one of the smoothest necks I've ever felt at any price point, and unbelievable synth tracking. I saw John McLaughlin with one of these a couple of years ago, and I figured if it was good enough for him, well, you know the rest. Dannyalcatraz
Great score! Those are hellaciously versatile guitars, and well made to boot. Came close to buying one myself last month, but someone beat me to it. Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. Winston Psmith
Thanks, everyone! The only downside to having this guitar is that I may neglect the others. It's that good. FWIW, I'd put my old GR-1 into semi-retirement, because it never quite acted right with the GK-3; the GR-30 only behaved after extensive tweaking. Now, while I may have to back in and re-adjust all those patches, my guitar synths have never sounded better. "Monsters are real, and Ghosts are real too. Winston Psmith
EHX DMM, couple of recent Ibanez pedals, Snarling Dogs Mold Spore, and an Expandora. I've all but given up on EHX, sad to say. I almost count on EHX stuff to break down, at this point, so if I have a piece of EHX gear that I'm not using, it seems better to be rid of it, than to wait for it to turn into a paperweight on its own. The Ibanez pedals were okay, but uninspiring, and I never really warmed up to the Expandora, in any of its modes. I know that's near blasphemy to some folks, but IME, holding onto a piece of gear because other players think it's cool is pointless. The Mold Spore is simply the nastiest sounding Ring Mod I've ever heard, and not in a good way. The Wah part of the pedal was pretty nice, but I'm not a dedicated Wah user, so . . . All of them were things I'd pull out once in a while, but never saw any regular duty in my pedalboards, so I was really shedding some excess, and in return, got something I'd been wanting for quite a while. I've spent more time with the Godin since I brought it home yesterday, than I ever spent on any of those pedals. "Monsters are real, and Ghosts are real too.
